Enhanced site navigation features offer exceptional shopping experience to HP customers

HP today announced that its online consumer store,, has earned its third win in the Best Computer Retailer Web Site category in the 2004 WebAward competition sponsored by the Web Marketing Association.

Judged on seven different criteria, including design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, navigation and ease of use, the seventh annual WebAward competition recognizes outstanding corporate Web sites that are judged against Internet standard and peer sites within their industry.

New features at include an enhanced search engine to offer an improved shopping experience. The engine enables users to narrow their search results to find products, features, specifications, price and promotions quickly and easily.

In addition, made improvements to its PC navigation by adding a usage comparison chart, a two-step process for configuring components and add-ons, and real-time pricing updates as the user configures a PC. These changes have contributed to increased configure-to-order sales and eight percent higher average selling prices compared with the previous four months.

Other site enhancements include:

  • Lateral navigation for users to navigate from categories in less clicks

  • Improved visibility to personalization features allowing users to view recently browsed products, previous searches, recommended add-ons for previous purchases

  • A solutions configurator that enables users to put together a complete digital photography solution to fit their lifestyle

  • Cross-selling enhancements that offer users improved categorization, information on product upgrades

  • A product advisor tool that enables customers to easily navigate the site and shop the complete line of HP home and home office products by usage or specifications.

Established in 1997, the Web Marketing Association has set a high standard for Internet marketing and corporate Web development on the World Wide Web. The Boston-based organization is staffed by volunteers and is made up of Internet marketing, advertising, PR and design professionals from coast to coast. Judges for its 2004 WebAward competition included members of the media, advertising executives, site designers, content providers and webmasters.
