HP Expands Business Intelligence Services Customer Base by 50 Percent in 2007

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- HP today announced that it increased thenumber of its customers for business intelligence services by 50percent in its fiscal year 2007, while the number of businessintelligence “mega-deals” – projects totaling more than $1 millionin revenue – increased by 32 percent.

HP is quickly becoming aworldwide leader in delivering business intelligence solutions tocustomers who want faster and easier access to valuable businessinformation for improved decision making across theirorganizations.

Survey results from analystfirm Gartner Inc. show that business intelligence continues to earntop placement for technology spending priorities. A survey of 1,400chief information officers revealed that business intelligence hadthe largest increase in priority for two years in arow.(1)

Examples of HP’s diversebusiness intelligence services engagements, many delivered withleading-edge partners such as Informatica, Microsoft, Oracle, SAPAG, SAS and others, include:

  • Claimetrics, a third-party claims administrator, engaged HP todevelop a business intelligence master plan to support itsanalytical needs and position the company for long-termgrowth.
  • Rush Health Associates, a U.S.-based, not-for-profit healthcaredelivery organization, relied on HP to create a businessintelligence master plan to develop an information infrastructurethat organizes clinical and operational data into information –improving operational efficiency and quality of care.
  • MAVIR, the Hungarian power grid operator, engaged HP for a datawarehouse-based information system project to deliver real-timemonitoring and forecasting of power and reserve requirements forgreater consumer cost savings.
  • Telecom Italia worked with HP to design and implement anenterprise data warehouse solution to enhance marketingintelligence capabilities collecting commercial provisioning,billing and traffic data. The biggest Italian telecommunicationsprovider now enjoys improved query and reporting performance, withthe right hardware in place for workload needs.
  • Industrial Bank of Korea, one of three policy banks in Koreawith a specialty in small and medium enterprise financing, workedwith HP to integrate customer information and marketing channels tostrengthen marketing execution capabilities. This resulted inincreased customer satisfaction, sales revenue and profitability aswell as optimized IT infrastructure.
  • Korea’s Kookmin Bank partnered with HP to quickly implement acustomer relationship management system to enhance marketingcapabilities and increase customer loyalty. The solution includedan enhanced IT infrastructure and strong collaboration amongbusiness and IT organizations.
  • Vero Insurance New Zealand Limited, the country’s secondlargest insurer, relied on HP to deliver a fully integrated datawarehouse for automated reporting and analysis. For a subsequentupgrade, Vero’s project was delivered ahead of schedule and underbudget – reducing extract, transform and load processing time by 60percent.
  • ASB Bank Limited, a New Zealand bank, worked with HP to quicklycomply with new BASEL II reporting requirements, involving theintegration of more than 60 extracts from five source systems.Prior to engaging HP, attempts at similar projects resulted inmissed deadlines and disappointed business sponsors. In contrast,HP exceeded expectations and is continuing additional phases ofdevelopment.

The HP Business InformationOptimization portfolio includes business intelligence andinformation management solutions that help companies manageinformation efficiently throughout its lifecycle. This past year, HP expandedthe portfolio with:

  • Completion of the acquisition of Knightsbridge Solutions LLC,the largest independent business intelligence services consultancy,with 700 employees;
  • The HP Neoview data warehouse platform, which integrateshardware, software and services to offer customers a comprehensiveview of essential business information, enabling real-time decisionmaking and historical analysis;
  • Development of a business intelligence maturity model andcomplementary online BI Evolution Assessment to help organizationsplan their progress; and
  • The HP Integrated Archive Platform, which helps customersmitigate the business risk associated with rapidly evolvinge-discovery, corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
