Anyone who’s ever streamed content from the web on a smartphone, saved digital files on a storage drive, played a video game with 3D graphics or used an LED to light the way should thank an engineer, scientist or researcher at HP Labs.

The technologies born in HP Labs over the last 50 years have not only changed the lives of generations but also have shaped Silicon Valley and the tech industry. Earlier this year, HP marked the 50th anniversary of HP Labs with a look back at some of its technology breakthroughs – inventions that have led to the development of products that we use every day.

At 50, HP’s wide-reaching research and development organization is again driving emerging technologies to market in areas most important to both customers and society.

This week, HP will share its vision for the future with journalists and influencers from around the world during a multi-day event at its Palo Alto headquarters, including a livestream of an honest discussion about the importance of diversity in a successful formula for innovation. Everyone, everywhere can virtually experience #Next50inTech events via News@HP, HP News on Periscope and Snapchat.

The event includes a day of discussions with HP and HP Labs leaders, as well as industry experts, about a number of topics and trends that are at the core of HP’s vision. They include:

• “Reinventing the City”
  How rapid urbanization is shaping future cities and the impact urbanization will have on societies, economies and the environment.
• “The Next Industrial Revolution”
  HP’s innovations in 3D printing are set to transform and disrupt manufacturing, supply chains and economies.
• “Reinvention Today for a Better Tomorrow”
  Why HP’s culture of innovation is essential to creating positive social impact and value for stakeholders inside and outside of our company.
• “Blended Reality Vision & Tours of HP Labs”
  How HP envisions Blended Reality and how it comes to life in each lab, as well as technologies currently in development and real-world scenarios.

Lastly, Chief Executive Officer Dion Weisler and Chief Technology Officer and Head of HP Labs Shane Wall will open for a timely, thought-provoking panel that uncovers the fuel to HP’s innovation engine: Diversity.

The “Diversity of Thought” panel, moderated by Fortune senior editor Leena Rao, will look at how diverse experiences and talent are key to future innovation. The panel will then have an open, honest and transparent dialogue on today’s diversity issues in the technology industry and beyond, and what companies should do to challenge the status quo and drive meaningful change.
