U.S. political engagement

We conduct all political engagements in a transparent, legal, and ethical manner and in accordance with Integrity at HP. Political activities are managed by HP’s Chief Public Policy Officer under the supervision of our CEO and our Board’s Nominating, Governance, and Social Responsibility Committee. In 2021, HP and the HP Employee Political Action Committee (PAC) ceased supporting candidates for elected office (and the HP PAC was dissolved). HP does not make political contributions within or outside the United States and does not make independent political expenditures. In general, HP does not contribute to ballot measures, 527 or 501 (C) (4) organizations for political purposes. Any exceptions will be publicly disclosed on our website. 
 
We also make public our U.S. and EU lobbying expenditures and membership in U.S. trade associations that engage in lobbying activity and we do not permit our dues to be used for political contributions. We adhere to all local lobbying disclosure laws. HP did not make any in-kind political donations in 2024. In 2024, for the seventh year in a row, we earned a perfect score and tied for first place overall among S&P 500 companies in the CPA-Zicklin Index of Corporate Political Disclosure and Accountability.
Starting in 2021, HP and the HP Employee Political Action Committee (PAC) discontinued their support for candidates running for elected office, resulting in the dissolution of the HP PAC. Moreover, HP refrains from making any political contributions, both domestically and internationally.

Chief Public Policy Officer

Brittany Masalosalo is the Chief Public Policy Officer at HP Inc. The work that the Government Affairs team does is vital to HP, delivering value by proactively identifying, quantifying, and assessing geopolitical trends, influencing government policies, and coordinating HP’s public policy position. Brittany and the Government Affairs team partner closely with the Global Business Units to help shape HP’s growth and development strategies, representing HP’s positions before policymakers, legislators, and regulators around the world. This work helps to advance HP’s goals of advocating for policies and fostering relationships that reflect HP’s values and enable success.

 

Prior to joining HP, Brittany worked at 3M as the Head of International Government Affairs, representing 3M’s positions before domestic and international trade institutions, the international diplomatic community, multilateral and bilateral institutions, and other international audiences.

 

She also spent time working at the White House in the Office of the Vice President as a senior advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy. While she was originally hired by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, she continued to serve with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence until deciding to join 3M. Her portfolio includes both regional and functional policy areas such as trade, international economics, and global health security.

 

Prior to working at the White House, Brittany worked for several years at the Pentagon in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. She has also spent time living in Belgium, working with NATO partners and allies. While serving in the U.S. Army, Brittany deployed twice to Iraq and is a decorated veteran.

 

She holds a M.A in International Relations from Harvard University, an M. Ed from North Central University and a B.A. from American Military University.

Jeff
Stephens

Chief of Staff
Government Affairs & Public Policy

Jeff Stephens is the Chief of Staff in HP Inc.’s global Government Affairs & Public Policy organization. In this capacity, Jeff oversees the day-to-day strategy, management, and operations of a diverse team with unique challenges across a global footprint. Prior to this role, he served as the global policy and strategy lead for digital and technology public policy, which included priority policy areas such as digital trade, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data privacy. He previously led a cross-functional effort to articulate HP’s sustainable impact public policy objectives across climate, human rights, and digital equity. He joined HP in 2017 as part of the Human Resources function and served as the chief of staff to the Chief HR Officer.

 

Prior to joining HP, Jeff spent nine years working for the U.S. Federal Government in Washington, DC, including time spent in the U.S. Senate, the Department of Defense, and various roles within the White House, most recently in the Office of Legislative Affairs.

 

Jeff earned a bachelors degree in political science from the University of Illinois and a MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.

Brzozowski

Vice President and Head of Global Policy & Strategy at HP

Christa Brzozowski is Vice President and Head of Global Policy & Strategy at HP, with more than two decades of experience at the intersection of global trade, emerging technology, and national & economic security policy spanning roles in the White House, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Congress, and the private sector. Most recently, as Assistant Secretary for Trade & Economic Security at DHS’s Office of Policy and Strategy.

 

Earlier in her career, Christa led U.S. federal public policy engagement on brand protection and illicit trade issues at Amazon and also served on the National Security Council at the White House shaping national and global frameworks on trade, technical & digital economy governance, and market access. Christa began her career in the U.S. Treasury Department where she supported the transition of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to DHS after the 9/11 attacks.

 

Christa has earned master’s degrees from Cambridge University, Georgetown University, and the Naval Postgraduate School. She lives in Maryland and enjoys sailing and time on the water with her daughter Cora.

Tom
Geier

Vice-President & Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy for the Americas

Tom Geier is HP’s Vice-President and Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy for the Americas

 

Prior to joining HP, Tom was the Head of 3M’s Federal Government Affairs team where he was responsible for the company’s engagement with Congress and federal agencies on a variety of issues, including those pertaining to tax, appropriations, defense, intellectual property, environment, energy, workforce development, chemicals, pandemic preparedness, trade, competitiveness and more. In addition, he oversaw the strategic planning and implementation for all related activities, including with the diplomatic community in D.C., while coordinating and collaborating with the global government affairs team to advance 3M’s priorities in multiple countries and regions.

 

During his tenure at 3M, Tom also oversaw and coordinated government-related engagement in more than 25 states and was responsible for media relations for 3M’s facilities in related states.

 

Prior to joining 3M, Tom worked in the United State Senate where he served as a legislative director, senior legislative assistant, and/or legislative assistant in two Senate offices, while overseeing a broad portfolio of issues. 

 

Tom received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arizona while majoring in Finance, Accounting, and Real Estate.

Shamala
Govindan

Vice-President & Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Asia Pacific

Shamala Govindan is the Vice-President and Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Asia Pacific. This team is responsible for engagements with governments and stakeholders to enable and protect HP businesses, innovation, and growth.

 

Prior to her current role, Shamala was the Deputy General Counsel for the Global Products and Services team, based in the United States. This team was responsible for strategic counseling of the global business units at HP, including managing commercial transactions, alliances, supply chain, and the enterprise functions.

 

Shamala spent the past 26 years as an attorney at HP in Singapore, Australia and US. In HP, Shamala has also had various roles leading Asia Pacific & Japan and Americas legal teams and supporting countries in the region and global business units.

 

Shamala is keen advocate and sponsor of women and early career employees at HP and is currently the executive sponsor of the Singapore Women’s Impact Network. Shamala was also the executive sponsor for Legal’s Global Volunteerism and Probono Program.

 

Shamala began her legal career as a lawyer in private practice in Singapore. Prior to joining HP, Shamala was in-house counsel for a Singapore real estate company, managing the legal, business and project management aspects of the company’s vast commercial property portfolio.

 

Shamala is a barrister-at-law of England and Wales, an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore and a Washington State Bar, House Counsel.

Jennifer
Brown

Head of Federal Security

Jennifer Brown is a Senior Security Professional with 20 years of industrial and personnel security experience. She possesses a bachelor’s degree in ‘International Trade Compliance’, and a master’s in ‘Security Management’ and brings with her to HP her proficiency around efficient and effective implementation of the national security program requirements.

 

She is a respected industry expert in Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence (FOCI) management and mitigation strategies, along with the DOD facility clearance process. She is also a well-known SME within DCSA, possessing solid relationships with both industry and government security leaders stakeholders, and she speaks annually at select conferences on the topics of ‘FOCI Mitigation’ and the ‘Facility Clearance’ process.

 

Jennifer serves as a Special Security Advisor for the DIU and has served as the Outside/Independent Director of several U.S. cleared companies operating under DOD- approved FOCI mitigation measures. She currently serves as an Independent/Outside Board Director and Chairman of the Government Security Committee.

 

She serves as an executive member of the steering committee for the NDIA AIA Industrial Security Committee and has been a speaker at their bi-annual security conference for nearly 10 years.
