Summary
Transition license parts (SKUs) are available for service providers who continue to use Dynamics CRM.
Why it’s important
Normally when a product is deleted from SPLA, you may continue to license its use either by continuing to report the deleted SKU (if you qualify under the deleted product rules) or by following the licensing/reporting/pricing model for the replacement product and utilizing your downgrade rights (if permitted by the Services Provider Use Rights).
Dynamics 365 Transition SKUs offer a third option. They allow you to continue using and licensing Dynamics CRM
- even if you no longer qualify to report the deleted Dynamics CRM SKUs because the SPLA you were reporting them under, prior to their deletion, has expired.
- by a more cost-effective and less restrictive means than following the Dynamics 365 licensing/reporting/pricing model and utilizing your downgrade rights (which allow you to downgrade only to the immediately preceding version, Dynamics CRM 2016).
Dynamics 365 Transition SKUs may be reported
- to license Dynamics CRM 2016 or the previous version
- during the term of a renewal SPLA (renewed at any time up to October 2019)
- with Transition pricing discounted from standard Dynamics 365 pricing by between 22% and 63%.
What you need to do
If you’re still using Dynamics CRM, your licensing options are as follows.
1) Report deleted Dynamics CRM SKUs.
To qualify, you must previously have reported Dynamics CRM SKUs for January 2017 or earlier usage under your current SPLA (current agreement number). Dynamics CRM use rights apply.
2) Report Dynamics 365 Transition SKUs.
To qualify, you must previously have reported Dynamics CRM SKUs for January 2017 or earlier usage, and your current SPLA would have a start date between February 1, 2017 and October 31, 2019. As this information is subject to change at the time of going to print, please read the full and finalized Dynamics 365 Transition use rights in the April 2017 SPUR.
3) Report standard Dynamics 365 SKUs.
If you don’t qualify to report the deleted Dynamics CRM SKUs or the Dynamics 365 Transition SKUs, you can follow the licensing/reporting/pricing model for Dynamics 365 and utilize its downgrade rights. These rights allow you to use only the immediately preceding version, Dynamics CRM 2016.
