HP Introduces the Future of Printing with Asia Pacific's First Web-Connected and Cloud Print-Enabled Printers

ASIA PACIFIC, Hong Kong, 29 June 2010 HP todayunveiled a revolutionary new category of web-enabled printingsolutions that will, for the first time in Asia Pacific, allowconsumers and businesses to:

  • Enjoy quick, easy, access to popular digitalcontent(1)via an entirely new web-based printingplatform with HP applications(apps);
  • Print from any email device to any new ePrint-enabled printerfrom anywhere in the world through the new HPePrintplatform(1);
  • Store documents or files in the cloud and print direct whenneeded;
  • Manage and customize their full printing experience through thenew HPePrintCenterto enjoy relevant, fun and interesting content thatis formatted for efficient printing.

To showcase thesenew solutions, HP announced a full suite of web-empowerede-All-in-One printers for home and business that start atUS$99(2). These are the first web-empowered and cloudprint-enabled printers in Asia Pacific that will allow instant,direct access to the Internet without requiring a local proxy PC orweb appliance. This means people will be able to enjoy access tocustomized pages on DreamWorks, Snapfish Photos,Tabbloid News, andGoogle Calendar directly from their printers all at the touch of afinger via HP's intuitive TouchSmart screen.

With theexplosive growth of the Internet and smart phones in Asia Pacificin recent years, the new HP web-empowered printers make navigatingthrough web content and printing easier for consumers andbusinesses.

Research hasshown that Asia Pacific is showing the highest growth in internethouseholds and 3G technology. By 2013, there will be more than700million(3) internet households, among whichapproximately 50%( 3) are in Asia Pacific, and almostone billion(4)smartphones, among which approximately35%(4)are in Asia Pacific. These trends are expected tofuel the demand for the new HPweb-connected printers.

HP ePrint: if youcan email it, you can print it

The HP ePrintplatform harnesses the cloud to break down the barriers of distanceand connectivity and allows people to send the files they want toprint from their mobile devices (1). From an executiveon a train sending a business document using a PalmPre orBlackBerry smartphone to print and picking up the printouts once hereaches his workplace, to a daughter sharing the perfect vacationmoment with her mom or best friend by using HP ePrint to send aninstant photo postcard of herself in front of the Eiffel tower. HPePrint allows people to print anytime, anywhere.

Every HPweb-connected printer will have a unique simple email address thatallows the sender to deliver a print the same way they would sendan email message. Customers also can send documents to printthrough an HP ePrint mobile app on their smart phone device to ahome, office or public print location. Customers will be able tosend Microsoft Office documents, Adobe PDFs and JPEG imagefiles,among others.

Apps platformoffers personalized printing possibilities(1)forconsumers and businesses

With the new HPePrint-enabled printers, customers can print free, personalizedonline content directly from the Web without a PC.The types ofcontent available include customized dailynews, coloring pages frompopular entertainment properties, personal calendars and more.Theseapps are viewable on an extra-large, intuitive-to-use TouchSmartpanel on the new e-All-in-One printer line-up.

Customers in theregion will have access to print apps like WebSudoku, QuickForms,DreamWorks, Google Calendar and Tabbloid.

  • With Web Sudoku, people can quickly print brainteasers forlight entertainment on the go.
  • With Quick Forms, customers can turn plain white paper intonotebook paper, graph paper, to-do lists, tic-tac-toe games, musicsheets and more.
  • To empower busy families, the printer provides one-touch accessto fun coloring pages and templates from DreamWorks Animation.Through the DreamWorks Animation app, users also will beable toview movietrailers to upcoming releases without having to log ontoa computer.
  • From Google Calendar, consumers will be able to print theirweekly schedule to place on their refrigerator or bulletinboard.

HP is currentlyworking with local partners to create additional apps that arerelevant to our area initial regional content will come frompartners from Korea, Japan and Australia.

Later this year,business customers can enjoy print apps from services such asGoogle Docs for easy document scanning to the web for printing at alater time; Box.net to scan, share, manage and access businesscontent online; Daily Brief for business essentials in one placeincluding calendars, to-do lists and news; and Biztree forimmediate access to business forms such as invoices, contracts,receipts, legal agreements and checklists.

HP is workingwith a select group of developers to refine its beta softwaredeveloper's kit and to add hundreds of print apps by the end of theyear. Developers can request the kit from the developers tab of theHPePrintCenter.

HP ePrintCenter:a home for all things printing

The HPePrintCenter is an online hub for all HP customers to explore newservices and customize their printing experience. For example,people can register their products and receive updates according totheir preferences, configure their devices, track ePrint jobs, andbrowse and suggest new print apps.

New HP Photosmartprinters at every price

The new line ofweb-connected HP Photosmart printers allows consumers the freedomto access content and print from anywhere without a PC. This can beachieved through HP ePrint from any mobile device or by touching avariety of customizable apps and printing options on the printer'sintuitive HP TouchSmart screen(5).

  • The HP Photosmart Premium e-All-in-One This top-of-the-lineprinter provides wireless access to the web and can be customizedby selecting from the full line of advanced printapps(5). It features a 4.3-inch HP TouchSmart screenwith enhanced touch technology and can save paper by up to 50percent using automatic two-sided printing. Availablein October2010 for US$199(2).

  • The HP PhotosmartPluse-All-in-OneProduce lab-qualityphotos, everyday documents and creative projects using thisprinter's 3.5-inch HP TouchSmart screen. Quickly print web contentsuch as quick forms, greeting cards, HPGames, crafts and newswithout a PC(1)(5). Available in October 2010 forUS$149(2).

  • The HP Photosmart Wirelesse-All-in-OnePrintlab-qualityphotos, everyday documents and web content on the fly,without using a PC(1). HP ePrint and integrated wirelesscombined with affordable individual inks lets you easily produceimpressive prints from anywhere, anytime(5). AvailableinJuly 2010 for US$99(2).

  • The HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-All-in-One Easily fax,scan and copy using the automatic document feeder; plus, printphotos and web content easily. Incorporates a host of connectivityoptions including wired and wireless networking(1)(6).Available in September 2010 for US$299(2).

  • HP iPrint Photo for Android Now available for Androidsmartphones, HP iPrint Photo is a free photo printing applicationfor quick and easy direct wireless printing to HP inkjet printersconnected to a local Wi-Fi network. The Android version joins HPiPrint Photo for Symbian, Windows Mobile, iPad, iPhone andiPodtouch. The Snapfish by HP mobile app for Android is expected tolaunch this summer.

New free HP PhotoCreations software ships with all the new printers and allowspeople to create photo books, calendars and other fun projects. Allof the printers announced today reduce packaging waste by using aninnovative, reusable bag and are ENERGYSTAR qualified.
