L'Imprimerie Moderne de l'Est chooses HP wide-format digital printing for its future development

Established in 1959, I.M.E specialised in offset printing for the schoolbook sector. After many years of growth, I.M.E saw the marketed declining and wanted to find new revenue sources while continuing to evolve its business. I.M.E saw wide format digital printing as a means to expand. In April, it invested an HP Scitex XL1500 Printer and entered the digital large format market. Today, I.M.E is creating and selling applications ranging from large format posters to building wraps and web-to-print services.

"The creation of a digital department with the new HP Scitex XL1500 Printer has enabled I.M.E to respond to its challenges despite the economic situation. While at present none of the banks is ready to support big concepts and projects, HP Financial Services created a great package for us, and it is to partners like HP that companies will continue to look in the future," explained Laurent Labat, general manager, I.M.E. "Our first thought was to invest in a sheet-fed press but when we saw a demonstration of the HP Scitex XL1500 Printer, we immediately fell in love with it.

"The HP Scitex XL1500 Printer has opened the door to digital printing for us and we are convinced that in the next ten years, 'computer to machine' [digital print] will become the norm. We're facing a reduction in our traditional print jobs, and believe that future jobs will be won on service and value, and only digital printing is able to provide that," concluded Labat.
