HP’s social investment is an integral part of our comprehensive commitment to global citizenship and holding ourselves to a higher standard of integrity, contribution and accountability. HP has a long history of enriching the communities where we work and live. HP’s social investment programs in Latin America are focused in three areas: We believe innovation is vital to developing the next generation of high-tech leaders and entrepreneurs. Whenever possible, we feature HP technology in ways that support teaching, learning, and meeting the needs of communities around the world. In just the past two years, HP has donated more than $2 million in HP equipment and cash to primary and secondary schools and colleges and universities in Latin America. These investments in technology-enabled classroom learning are affecting more than 10,000 students across the region. One institution applying an HP technology grant to innovative approaches to instruction is
EAFIT University in Medellin, Colombia. This and other grant success stories in the region are profiled in the “Other resources” section on the right side of this page.
Re-imagining the classroom
The HP Innovations in Education program enables secondary education schools to integrate technology into the classroom in a way that transforms the learning experience. These grants help educators accelerate teacher development and improve student achievement, while encouraging student interest in careers in technology, engineering, math and sciences. Grant recipients receive HP products, professional development and funds. Grant applications are by invitation only in Latin America. Re-imagining higher education
The HP Innovations in Education program for higher education is helping universities and colleges across Latin America enhance their engineering, computer science and IT degree programs.
Previous recipients of these grants are using HP technology, professional development and funding to develop innovative approaches to their curriculum, instruction and use of mobile technology to enhance the learning experience. Grant applications are by invitation only in Latin America.
Creating tomorrow’s entrepreneurs

Through this partnership, HP employees participate in Junior Achievement programs, including traditional classroom tutoring engagements, Whole School programs and JA-in-a-Day. HP also sponsors student competitions that promote socially responsible business practices and entrepreneurship, and is introducing the Responsible Business Competition in Latin America in 2009.
Community support and employee involvement
HP has a long commitment of supporting the communities in which its employees work and live. Each year, HP donates thousands of dollars worth of product and cash to support local non-profit and non-governmental organizations involved in strategic programs fitting HP’s social investment focus and philosophy. In addition, our employees volunteer their time and expertise to support initiatives, including those focused on improving the educational experience of students throughout the region. If you believe your organization or school may be a match for HP’s social investment focus and philosophy, please email the HP office in the country in which you are located.
