How to use shortcuts on HP Smart

The HP Smart app has these cool little features known as shortcuts. You can use shortcuts to program one-touch actions that simplify time-consuming and routine operations, such as sending emails, printing documents, and storing scans. Here’s how you can do this:

1. Install HP Smart

First and foremost, you will need to download and install the HP Smart application on your desktop, smartphone, or tablet.

If you are configuring the printer to function with a wireless network, follow these quick steps:

  • Place the printer, as well as your computer or mobile device, in close proximity to the Wi-Fi router.

  • Next, connect to the network by turning on the Wi-Fi function and entering your credentials. If the computer is currently linked to the network using an Ethernet cable, you will need to first unplug the cable and make use of the Wi-Fi connection while setting up the computer.

  • Turn on the Bluetooth setting on your smartphone or tablet so that HP Smart can recognize the printer while it is being set up.

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com (for mobile devices), the HP Smart page on the Microsoft Store website (for Windows), or the HP Smart page on the Mac App Store website (macOS).

  • Allow the application to use your geolocation to recognise the printer and provide solutions.

NOTE: Before downloading, you must first disconnect your device from any Virtual Private Network (VPN).

If this is your first time configuring HP Smart, you will need to create an HP account. Otherwise, you can simply login into an existing one.

You may try resetting the Wi-Fi configuration mode if you are unable to locate the name of your printer following these instructions:

  • Access the Wireless and Setup menu using printers that have a touchscreen such as HP OfficeJet and HP advanced printers.

  • Choose Network setup and then Settings, and afterwards choose Restore Network Settings to restore your previous network configuration.

  • For printers that do not have a touchscreen like HP laserjet or HP laser printers, you will need to push the buttons of your printer in order to get it back into WiFi setup mode.
