HP Media Partner Update- Innovia Films

Innovia Films is the leading producer of speciality Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) and Cellulose films to the flexible packaging and label substrates markets. Collaborations with HP over the last five years, have led to the development and certification of a range of film substrates that are fully compatible with HP Indigo technology. In 2008, this relationship was recognised and Innovia Films was made a Preferred Partner in the EMEA region.

As its name suggests, Innovia Films is always at the forefront of innovation. Recent product developments and ongoing research continues to take the market by storm. At LabelExpo Americas this year, Innovia Films launched Rayoface™ CZDI, an optimum performance clear high gloss film and Rayoface™ WZDI, a white high gloss non-cavitated film. Both these BOPP label facestock films are finished with a proprietary top coating, which has been specifically designed to be compatible with HP Indigo presses. They compliment the existing BOPP facestock films, retaining all the conversion benefits of BOPP and adding "squeezability", thus representing viable alternative to polyethylene substrates.

Innovia Films has also recently launched a range of grades for flexible packaging applications to support HP Indigo press users looking to diversify into new markets and applications.

"As leaders in the digital printing industry, we view HP as a key partner, enabling Innovia Films to drive technological advances in substrates for the digital printing sector," says Richard Southward, business development manager, Innovia Films. "These latest substrates from Innovia Films are ideal for packaging products requiring both resilience and flexibility. All feature our dedicated, superior print receptive top coating for excellent printability by HP Indigo Electroink toner systems, ensuring superior print quality when used in conjunction with the HP's label and packaging technologies."

Innovia Films' substrates were running live on the HP stand this year at LabelExpo, Drupa and Interpack and are currently facilitating maximimum outputs on the new HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press, launched at Drupa.

"Creating a printed product requires a number of complex processes and the HP, Innovia Films partnership is crucial to the development of a superior offering and advancing new technologies. Our commitment to research and development ensures we can keep expanding our product portfolio and continue to supply market-leading solutions to the next generation of HP presses.

"We want to be proactive in assisting our mutual customers to attain their business goals and are always on hand to offer expert advice and support to HP customers looking to convert to speciality films. With years of experience in the label and flexible packaging markets, we can add-to and accelerate the growth and success of this market," Richard concludes.
