You can click a Software Status icon to access the HP Version Control Agent. If the Version Control Agent cannot be accessed, help displays describing how to configure the Version Control Agent or trust relationship on that system.

There is a Software Status icon for every system except HP-UX.

Version Control Status

In HP Systems Insight Manager, Version Control software has one of the following status types:

  • normal icon Current. All components on the system match the repository.

  • minor icon Minor. At least one of the components on the system can be updated, but none of the updates are major.

  • major icon Major. At least one of the components on the system requires an update that is deemed major. Other components might require minor updates.

  • unknown icon Unknown. Although communicating with the Version Control Agent, the Version Control Agent is not configured to point to a Version Control Repository Manager.

  • inform icon Informational. The software is unable to communicate with the Version Control Agent for some reason.

There can be many reasons that a software status is Unknown. The tool tip for each Unknown status reflects the reason it is Unknown for that particular system.

Reasons include:

  • The Version Control Agent is not installed on the system.

  • A trust relationship issue exists.

  • Software Version Status Polling has not run on that system.
