Access the graphical user interface (GUI) using a Web browser or the command line interface (CLI) using a Secure Shell (SSH) client.

Access the HP Systems Insight Manager GUI from any network client using a Web browser. For information about which browsers are supported, see the HP Systems Insight Manager Installation and User Guide. When you navigate to the HP Systems Insight Manager GUI, it checks to make sure you have the correct version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed. If you don't, it prompts you to install the correct version. When installing the JRE, it is recommended to select the Custom install option and to deselect the options for this to be the default Java runtime for Internet Explorer and Netscape. Failure to do this can cause issues with other Web applications. To log in to the GUI: Open a supported Web browser on any network client, and enter the address for the login page by navigating to http://hostname:280/ where hostname is the hostname of the central management server (CMS).
Note: If you are logging in directly on a Windows CMS, you can use the HP Systems Insight Manager desktop icon to access the login page, or you can select Start Programs HP Systems Insight Manager HP Systems Insight Manager. Enter your User name, Password and Domain if requested. Click [Secure Login].
If your browser is not configured with the SSL system certificate of the HP Systems Insight Manager system, a Security Alert regarding a certificate of un-trusted origin is displayed when first browsing to HP Systems Insight Manager using SSL. If a Security Alert appears, perform one of the following procedures: Export the HP Systems Insight Manager System Certificate to a file by first browsing from a local browser on the HP Systems Insight Manager system. Then, manually import it into the remote browser. Refer to Server Certificates - Exporting a Server Certificate for more information. Log in to the HP Systems Insight Manager system this time without a trusted certificate, but resolve to import the certificate in the future. Your data is still encrypted. Import the certificate into your browser now, using the browser. View the certificate by double clicking on the lock icon, then install it. Refer to Server Certificates - Importing a Server Certificate for more information.
After you have an SSL session established with HP Systems Insight Manager, all information entered on the login page is encrypted as it is passed to HP Systems Insight Manager.

Access the HP Systems Insight Manager CLI directly on the CMS or from any network client using SSH client software. To log in to the CLI directly on the CMS: Log in to the CMS using a valid user name and password. HP Systems Insight Manager grants authorizations based on your operating system user login. Open a terminal window or a command prompt window to execute HP Systems Insight Manager commands.
Remotely Using an SSH Client To log in to the CLI remotely using an SSH client: Open an SSH client application on any network client. Log in to the CMS through the SSH client software, using a valid user name and password. HP Systems Insight Manager grants authorizations based on your operating system user login.
