When Naperville Schools in Naperville, Illinois considered a major technology investment in April, 1998, Skip Paulson, Director of Technological Services looked to HP. Naperville is a large district supporting a student population of approximately 19,000. The district includees two high schools, five junior highs, and 14 elementary schools.

After a successful executive briefing, HP won Naperville's loyalty for years to come. HP's product quality, the reputation of HP's products and the overall company image emphasizing strong customer relationships and award winning customer service were, and continue to be critical factors in Naperville's choice of PC vendors.

HP worked with CompuCom to meet the ongoing delivery, customer service and support needs of Naperville who is on a five year refresh program. Naperville's current installation includes 2,200 HP Vectra desktops with HP's 14" monitors, more than 20 HP NetServers, and numerous HP storage systems, racks, hubs and switches, As Naperville completes its plans to standardize on HP desktop products through its district, Naperville will purchase 1,000 HP desktops annually through the year 2003. HP Vectras are used for CAD labs, computer labs, classrooms, and all administrative purposes. Naperville is currently evaluating distributed video to the desktop and plans to install the solution beginning in June, 1999.

According to Paulson, "HP was chosen based on its manageability software, early Small-Medium Business Center compliance, and overall lowest total cost of ownership." Naperville is implementing HP's OpenView to manage the district-wide network and all of the new HP desktops are configured with a remote power-on compliant network interface card. "HP products have given Naperville complete confidence in our overall technology plan. The quality of all of HP's desktop, server and networking products is exceeding our expectations in all areas."
