Hewlett-Packard's Trade-In Program through Market Velocity, Inc.
HP Trade-In is a service provided to HP customers by Market Velocity, Inc. (MVI), an independent third party. Hewlett-Packard (HP) is not involved in individual transaction between Market Velocity and HP customers. Any and all transactions conducted on this site are solely the responsibility of Market Velocity and such visitors. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you hereby release HP and its respective directors, employees and agents from any disputes, claims, demands, and/or damages (actual or consequential) of every kind, whether known or unknown, arising out of, or relating to, your use of Market Velocity services, including, without limitation, uncompleted or completed transactions and any claims or disputes between you and Market Velocity.
The following terms and conditions apply to your use of the Market Velocity service sponsored by HP. If you have any questions please contact customer service. Market Velocity may amend this site at any time by posting the amended terms on this site. Terms are effective immediately upon posting. These terms and conditions may not be otherwise amended except in writing and signed by you and Market Velocity.
Program overview
Purchase or lease a new HP Designjet T1300 44-in PostScript ePrinter, HP Designjet T7100 Printer or an HP Designjet Z6200 60-in Photo Printer and trade in an eligible large-format printer between February 1, 2012 and April 30, 2012 and receive up to $1,000 cash back. Qualifying trade-in models vary depending on the HP Designjet printer purchased. Submit the claim form by May 31, 2012. Plus, during the HP Cash In & Trade Up Spring 2012 promotion, HP will pay for the return shipping of your trade-in product. Trade-in product must be returned to HP for recycling.
In addition, when an eligible printer and an eligible HP Care Pack Service are purchased / leased together from February 1, 2012 and April 30, 2012, additional cash-back amounts are available. See the chart below for Eligible Printers, and HP Care Pack Services corresponding cash-back amounts.
Trade-in proof-of-ownership requirements
By agreeing to these program terms and conditions, you warrant that all trade-in equipment has been owned by the end user for at least one year and has been used in the end user's business in the previous year. Such equipment or the sale and shipment of such equipment must not violate any applicable laws, statutes, ordinances or regulations, including export laws. You are responsible for complying with any and all such laws. Any equipment you seek to sell using Market Velocity services: (1) shall not infringe on third-party intellectual property rights (including copyright, trademarks, patent, trade secrets or other proprietary rights; (2) shall not be counterfeit, stolen, or fraudulent.
Program rules and requirements
Purchase or lease an eligible new HP Designjet printer and trade-in an eligible trade-in unit (matrix listed below), between February 1, 2012 and April 30, 2012.
Purchases/leases and invoices dated prior to or after this timeframe and returns of eligible large-format trade-in printers not completed by the deadline will not be eligible for this promotion.
THE ONLINE CLAIM FORM MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MAY 31, 2012. You must supply the serial number and the make/model of the eligible old large-format product. YOU WILL HAVE AN ADDITIONAL 30 DAYS FROM INITIAL CLAIM SUBMITTAL OR UNTIL JUNE 30, 2012, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST, to submit your proof of purchase (sales invoice(s)) including serial number(s) of newly purchased HP Designjet printer.
This promotion is a one-for-one trade only.
You have to trade in an eligible large-format printer. This offer is valid only for Trade-in Product(s) that are capable of being powered on. HP will determine whether the Trade-in Product(s) is in sufficient working condition to qualify for the cash-back allowance. HP's decision shall be final.
The HP Cash In & Trade Up Spring 2012 promotion is available only for purchase(s)/lease(s) of an Eligible new Printer(s) directly from HP or through authorized HP resellers. Valid only in the United States. The promotion is not valid on refurbished printers, printers purchased/leased through Internet auctions, or from any other unauthorized reseller of HP products. The Reseller demo unit does qualify for an eligible new Printer.
By submitting the online claim form, you warrant that you hold legal title to the Trade-in Product(s), free of liens or security interests, and have the legal right to transfer the Trade-in Product(s) to HP. You must have proof of purchase of the Trade-in Product(s) and provide it to HP upon request. Title to the Trade-in Product(s) transfers to HP on the date and time the Trade-in Product(s) is picked up by HP's designated freight carrier.
Leased product: The promotion is available for new lease agreements entered into between an authorized HP reseller and you if the following conditions are met:
- The new lease agreement must be for at least a one-(1) year term and the newly leased unit must replace an older eligible product (HP or non-HP) that is being removed from service;
- The sales invoice submitted with the claim must list the leasing services of the item being sold (e.g. for lease of an HP Designjet XXX applicable (date) through (date)) and a copy of the lease must be attached to the sales agreement;
- Both the new lease unit and the Trade-in Product(s) must be eligible product(s);
Eligible new HP Designjet printer and HP Care Pack Services must be purchased or leased together, on the same invoice in order to receive the HP Care Pack cash back allowance

Reseller involvement:
Authorized HP resellers may submit claims on behalf of their end-user customer by following the same claim process outlined above.
HP will not compensate authorized resellers for discounts that exceed the promotion cash back allowance. HP Cash In & Trade Up Spring 2012 is an end-user customer trade-in promotion and the entire cash-back allowance must be passed on from the reseller to the end-user customer. Participation in the HP Cash In & Trade Up Spring 2012 promotion indicates that end-user customer agrees that its reseller, and not HP, is solely responsible for any negotiated sums exceeding HP's authorized trade-in values.
Reseller must submit to Market Velocity the Trade-in Product(s) that was provided by end-user customer. Reseller may not substitute other Trade-in Product(s) or submit Trade-in Product(s) not owned by end-user customer.
Government involvement:
Government customers are legally identified Federal, State, or Local government organizations within the U.S. Cash back checks will be issued in the name of the government organization only, in the event a Government Customer is claiming on their own behalf.
Education customers are higher education institutions and schools (K-12), both public and private, within the U.S. Cash back checks will be issued in the name of the educational institution only, in the event an Education customer is claiming on their own behalf.
Government or Education customers must currently own an eligible 24" or greater large-format printer or plotter and must show proof of ownership.
- Trade-in printer is required, except where Federal or State regulations do not allow.
Combining with special pricing or other promotion
Open to U.S. residents only.
This offer may be combined with HP Instant Rebate promotions, and may not be combined with other HP discount offers such as education rebates, big deal pricing and volume discounts.
In the case where there is a Big Deal/Contract pricing, the customer can take the higher of the two discounts. (Contact nicole.barrett@hp.com for any exceptions.) If the customer does not qualify for any additional cash back allowance, they may still be eligible to receive the free shipping and free recycling, based on the fact that a new eligible printer was purchased. If the customer is only eligible for free recycling and free shipping then they must first contact customer service at hpcustomerservice@marketvelocity.com or by calling 866-525-4178 between 8am and 8pm ET, Monday through Friday, to receive a manual claim form. Once the customer has completed the manual claim form, and has provided the documentation needed to show that an eligible trade-in product has been purchased, the customer will follow the same process as outlined below.
Program steps and timing
Purchase - Purchase or lease a new HP Designjet T1300 44-in PostScript ePrinter, HP Designjet T7100 Printer or an HP Designjet Z6200 60-in Photo Printer, between February 1, 2012 and April 30, 2012 for each eligible large format printer you intend to trade in.
Claim Form - Complete and submit the online claim form by May 31, 2012. Any claims received after this date will be rejected. After you submit your online claim, Market Velocity (MVI) will send a confirmation email with the claim number and instructions on your next step of the claim process. Please print and save for your records. Reference this claim number for questions relating to this promotion. You must supply the serial number and make/model of the old product during this claiming step.
Proof of Purchase - Fax in a copy of your confirmation email, your proof of purchase sales invoice(s) (or lease documents) and any HP Care Pack Services purchase to 1-770-217-4097 or email to hpcustomerservice@marketvelocity.com. If the serial number(s) of your eligible new Printer(s) is not listed on your sales invoice(s), please write the serial number(s) of your eligible new Printer(s) on the sales invoice(s) prior to mailing. This needs to be done within thirty (30) days of claim submission. Be sure to keep a copy of your entire claim for your records. You may also mail to:

Shipping trade-in product - Within one (1) business day of validation of your Proof of Purchase, shipping instructions and a shipping placard will be emailed to you for shipment of the trade-in product(s). The customer must return trade-in product(s) for recycle in accordance with the instructions provided by the program. The shipping instructions/placard is valid for thirty (30) days from the issue date.
Trade-in product must be picked up by HP's designated freight carrier within thirty (30) days of receipt of the shipping instructions or by July 31, 2012, whichever occurs first.
All ink and toner must be removed from the printer(s) prior to shipping, and must be packaged separately. They may be included in the same shipment as the Trade-in Product, but they must be wrapped and bagged separately
You must return the Trade-in Product(s) in accordance with the instructions provided by HP, and make it available for pick-up by HP's designated freight carrier during scheduled pick-up time. Please allow a minimum of three days for pick-up. HP's freight carrier will deliver the Trade-in Product(s) to HP's designated location at HP's expense. The Trade-in Product(s) must be picked up within thirty (30) days from the date you submit the online claim form or by July 31, 2012 whichever date occurs first.
All incomplete claims will be automatically rejected, and must be completed and resubmitted to be processed. A claim is considered incomplete if it matches one or more of the following criteria: missing any information requested on the claim form, missing serial number of new printer(s) purchased, missing proof of purchase documents, invoice with invalid purchase date, invalid trade-in product(s) and/or traded in product(s) for recycle that are not shipped within the thirty (30) day limit. If the customer is only eligible for free recycling and free shipping then they should first contact customer service at hpcustomerserice@marketvelocity.com or by calling 866-525-4178 between 8am and 8pm ET, Monday through Friday, to receive a manual claim form. Once the customer has completed the manual claim form, and has provided the documentation needed to show that an eligible trade-in product has been purchased, the customer will follow the same process as outlined above.
Cash back - Please allow 8 weeks from the time your trade-in claim is complete for receipt of your cash-back check. Completion of your claim includes pick up of your Trade-in Product(s) and receipt of your proof(s) of purchase/lease. For questions regarding the status of your submission, please contact the promotion help line at 1-866-525-4178 Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Once your claim is submitted, your purchase invoice received and validated, and your trade-in printer shipped allow 8 weeks to get your cash back check. If you have not received payment after 8 weeks, please contact customer service or by calling 1-866-525-4178.
Trade-in pickup and delivery
The Trade-in Product(s) must be located in the U.S.
HP will pay usual and customary shipping charges for shipping the Trade-in Product(s) as part of this promotion when its designated freight carrier is used.
You must contact HP's designated freight carrier to schedule pick-up.
The shipping instructions are valid for thirty (30) days from the issue date.
The Trade-in Product(s) must be picked up within thirty (30) days from the date you receive the shipping instructions or by July 31, 2012, whichever date occurs first, for the appropriate cash-back allowance.
Trade-in Product(s) must be able to power on.
Trade-in Product(s) must be returned with all appropriate available accessories, and must be capable of powering on. If any of these items are missing when received by HP, HP may refuse to pay the cash-back amount. All ink and toner must be removed from the printer(s) prior to shipping, and must be packaged separately. They should be included in the same shipment as the Trade-in Product, but they must be wrapped and bagged separately.
Receipt and validation of trade-ins by HP
HP shall not be responsible for the loss, safekeeping, or maintenance in confidence of any data resident on the Trade-in Product(s).
The Trade-in Product number, model number, its configuration and condition must match what was provided to MVI according to the Program instructions. If they do not match, HP reserves the right to recalculate the trade-in cash-back allowance or return the Trade-in Product(s), if possible. If the product is returned, the cash-back designee will be responsible for any and all associated shipping costs.
The Trade-in Product(s) must be complete and able to power on. Trade-in Product(s) will include, at a minimum, all hardware, software and component parts and copies of all applicable license(s) needed for the Trade-in Product(s) to operate. "Powered on" means that, at a minimum, all parts of the Trade-in Product(s) will be capable of being turned on.
All Trade-in Products are subject to inspection and acceptance by HP upon receipt and prior to issuance of any cash-back amount. If Trade-in Product(s) is not delivered to HP within the timeframe as set forth above, or is not delivered to HP "Complete" and in the condition defined above, HP reserves the right to recalculate the trade-in cash-back quote value or return the Trade-in Product(s), if possible. If the Trade-in Product(s) is returned, the cash-back designee will be responsible for any and all associated shipping costs.
The end user and HP authorized reseller (if the reseller is the cash-back designee) each warrants that the Trade-in Product(s) is free of any liens or encumbrances, including third-party software which may not be transferred or for which royalties are due. The end user and HP authorized reseller each shall indemnify HP from all claims or losses sustained by HP as a result of any breach of this warranty.
Risk of loss for the Trade-in Product(s) shall remain with the end user or HP authorized reseller (as determined between end user and HP authorized reseller) until delivery of the same to HP's designated carrier.
The delivery of the Trade-in Product(s) to HP's carrier shall be final and effective to transfer title of such products to HP free and clear of all liens and other encumbrances. No Trade-in Products or any part thereof will be returned to the customer.
Title of the Trade-in Product(s) passes at the earlier of either the cash-back designee receiving the cash-back amount or HP's carrier has picked up the Trade-in Product(s).
Promotion void where taxed, regulated, restricted or prohibited by law.
HP reserves the right to change the offers based on product availability.
HP reserves the right to modify or cancel this promotion at any time without notice.
HP is not responsible for late, lost, stolen, misdirected, illegible, incomplete or postage-due claims/requests or for any printing, human, fax, computer or other errors. Nonconforming submissions will not be acknowledged or processed.
The offer is not open to HP Authorized Resellers, or their employees, dealers or employees (and their immediate families-including spouse, natural and step-parents, children, siblings and members of their household) of Hewlett-Packard (HP), Market Velocity, Zeta Interactive, Response Point and Publicis purchasing for internal or business use.
All documentation submitted for this promotion becomes the property of HP and will not be returned.
HP and Market Velocity reserve the right to request additional information from you at our discretion.
Offer not transferable.
All decisions by HP are final.
Transmission errors
MVI makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of all information that you receive in relation to your Trade-in Product(s). In the event of typographical errors, technical inaccuracies, or product pricing errors or omissions, MVI reserves the right to correct the error within seven (7) calendar days of the trade. If MVI corrects the error, MVI will provide you with the following options: (1) to proceed with the transaction based on the corrected information; or (2) to cancel your transaction, in which case MVI will promptly send the Trade-in Product(s) back (if possible) or replace it with like product (i.e., similar make, model and condition).
Fraudulent claims
Submitting false claims for program benefits will disqualify end-user's or HP authorized reseller's claim, make end user or HP authorized reseller ineligible for future participation in HP promotional programs, and may subject end user or HP authorized reseller to civil liability or criminal prosecution.
Program changes or termination
This program is subject to change or termination at any time, without notice, by Hewlett-Packard Company. All trade-in transactions are subject to the approval of Hewlett-Packard.
THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS ARE GOVERNED BY AND CONSTRUED IN ACCORDANCE WITH GEORGIA LAW, AND NO CONFLICT OF LAWS PROVISIONS OF ANY JURISDICTION WILL APPLY TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. BY ACCEPTING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, YOU AGREE THAT ANY ACTION AT LAW OR IN EQUITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS WILL BE FILED ONLY IN STATE OR FEDERAL COURT LOCATED IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA, AND YOU HEREBY IRREVOCABLY AND UNCONDITIONALLY CONSENT AND SUBMIT TO THE EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION OF SUCH COURTS OVER ANY SUIT, ACTION OR PROCEEDING ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
