Don't let water or fingerprints ruin your photos

Water can destroy cherished memories.
Accidents happen. A friend spills water while looking at your vacation pictures. Suddenly your photos—and the memories they hold-are destroyed.

But now, thanks to innovative ink and paper technologies from HP, you can print your own water and smudge resistant photos, making them safe for little fingers.

Get water resistant photos with the right inks and paper

HP papers and inks work together to give you long lasting, beautiful prints.
To get water and smudge resistant photos at home, make sure you print photos using HP Advanced photo paper combined with HP Vivera inks. They're specifically engineered to give you beautiful photos that withstand the demands of real life.

What does water resistant really mean?

HP subjects photos to numerous tests to make sure they're truly water resistant.
HP papers and inks have to pass a battery of tests in order to be called water resistant—simulating extreme versions of everyday accidents.

  • A print is splashed, and then the water gets wiped off. No smudges!

  • Using a standard household spray bottle, water is sprayed on a photo that's lying flat, and then allowed to evaporate for 24 hours.

  • Water is dropped on a photo held at a 45 degree angle to see if that makes it run or smear.

  • Water is dropped on a print held at a 45 degree angle and wiped off with a weighted cotton cloth.

The result? HP Advanced photo paper, when paired with most HP Vivera ink cartridges, gives you beautiful, quick drying, smudgeproof and water resistant photos that will make your memories last.
