Red eye fixing

Introduction

Imagine it: no more red eyes in photos! We'll show you how to remove red-eye three different ways—in your digital camera, with your HP Photosmart photo printer (no PC needed), and using free Windows Live Photo Gallery software.

Three ways to remove red-eye from your digital photos

With your camera

Many digital cameras have a red-eye removal mode. But you can also avoid red-eye by turning off your camera's flash. (You don't need to use a flash for most daytime photos anyway.)

If it's too dark to photograph without a flash, ask your subject to look toward the camera, but not directly at the lens. Also, try standing farther away from your subject.

OR with your HP Photosmart Printer

With most HP Photosmart printers or All-in-Ones, you can remove red-eye and make other enhancements before printing.

Some models, like the HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One, have an automatic red-eye removal button. Presto! No more red-eye. And no PC required.

OR with Windows Live Photo Gallery

Windows Live Photo Gallery is free, downloadable software used for storing, organizing, and sharing your digital photos. You can also use it to edit and remove red-eye from your pictures. After you open the software, choose Fix from the editing menu. The software guides you through the simple steps to select and remove the red from your subject's eyes.
