Printing a borderless image

  1. Click Printer settings to open the Printer Settings dialog box.
  2. Select your printer or all-in-one from the Printer list. You need to select the device first, because not all devices support borderless printing.
  3. Select one of the borderless papers from the Paper Size list. Make sure that size of paper is loaded in your printer or all-in-one.
  4. Select the Borderless Sizes Only check box.
  5. Select one of the photo paper options from the Paper Type list.

*Note: On some HP printers that support borderless printing, you can also print borderless photos on Letter/A4 paper. Borderless is only applicable to one image per page (such as in 4 x 6 snapshots or 8 1/2 x 11 enlargements). Certain HP printers can print 4 x 6 borderless but not Letter/A4 borderless. Please refer to your printer manual or visit the HP Customer Care website for more information.

Select print size

Click the dropdown Print size menu and highlight 1 per page. A preview of your prints will automatically appear.

Select paper type

Still on the Print tab, go to the Printer Settings area and use the Paper type drop-down menu to select the appropriate photo paper.

The little paper-quality icon next to the menu indicates one of two types:

  • Photo-quality prints (all paper options except plain)
  • Draft-quality prints (plain paper)

HP Photosmart Essential software will automatically default to Best quality mode with photo-quality paper. If you don't want this option, just use the Advanced menu to change it in the printer properties before you print.

Choose the right photo paper for your printer

A photo being printed using HP ink and paper Paper makes a tremendous difference when you're printing digital photos. HP offers an array of photo papers to make your images look crisp and professional: from 4 x 6 inch papers with or without tear-off tabs to greeting cards. HP Premium Plus photo paper is always a good choice, because it delivers color-rich, high-quality results with exceptional fade resistance. It's thick and shiny, so you can use it for the photos you print every day—proof sheets, photos from e-mail, or your kids' school projects.
