Remove red-eye from your photo

The HP C4680 All-in-One printer
Several HP printers and All-in-Ones, like the HP Photosmart C4680 All-in-One Printer, offer PC-free red-eye removal.
Don't let a small detail ruin a good photo—here are a couple simple ways to remove red-eye from your images:

Improve your photo's lighting

To correct an underexposed photo, look for Exposure or Enhance tools found
in your editing software.
Altering the lighting can significantly improve the appearance of your photo.

  • Use the Adjust exposure tool featured in Windows Live Photo Gallery to alter your photo's brightness, contrast, shadows, and highlights.

  • If using other software, such as Adobe Photoshop, look for an Enhance feature or a tool that allows you to customize the Contrast of the photo.

Color correct your photo

Enhance the colors in your photo by adjusting the saturation, temperature, and tint settings.
Whether you're adjusting a photograph's hues for accuracy, or experimenting with style, today's photo editing solutions offer trouble-free color correction.
  • Windows Live Photo Gallery features an Adjust color tool you can use to change the temperature, tint, and saturation of the colors in your photo.
  • The Saturation tool found in photo editing software can either help save a muted photograph or simply give it more richness and depth.

Crop, rotate, or straighten your photo

Cropping is a simple way to remove distracting elements from a photo.

Rotate horizontally or vertically
  • Some photographs lend themselves best to one orientation over another, so feel free to experiment with the Rotate feature of your software.

Straighten your photo
  • Use the Straighten tool found in photo editing software, including Windows Live Photo Gallery, to re-position crooked photos, or accurately adjust the angle of your photo.

Sharpen your photo

Use your editing software's Sharpen tool to eliminate blur and bring focus
to the photo's subjects.
A blurry photo can often be corrected with a few quick editing techniques.
  • Windows Live Photo Gallery features an Adjust detail tool that gives you the ability to sharpen the focus of your photo.

  • Subtly adjusting Contrast and Saturation levels to add further clarity to your image is also helpful.

  • With professional-grade software like Adobe Photoshop, you can use a Sharpen tool, or the Unsharp Mask tool, which locates and sharpens the areas within your photograph where colors change.

  • If making other edits to your photo, save sharpening for one of the last steps.
