HP Photo Books are perfect for sharing memories. In these interviews, mom bloggers share their thoughts on photography and the photos that captured the special moments of their lives.
In her personal blog Woulda Coulda Shoulda, Mir Kamin shares the good, the bad and the ugly about her life with daughter "Chickadee," son "Monkey" and husband "Otto." A professional freelance writer, Mir recently relocated from northern New England to a college town in Georgia, which offers great fodder for her blog muse. She also blogs about shopping deals at WantNot.net and shares her perspective on life as a home-office mom in Cornered Office.
While she loves taking pictures, Mir doesn't think she's a particularly good photographer. "When I was 12, my parents gave me an instant camera for summer camp. I was so excited. I used three rolls of film, and ended up with pictures of arms and legs and trees. My pictures were poorly composed and I don't know that I've improved."
She recently married a photographer, and feels that his tips have helped her reach a higher level of competence, although she admits to the temptation to make him take all the family pictures.
She was a single mom for a number of years and confesses that she has excellent Photoshop skills, combining "the head from one picture, and the body from another." With her marriage, she had to promise to stop "photoshopping" although she feels strongly about not exposing her kids online, so she does block out their visible faces from any photos she posts.
Her favorite photo of all time is one her ex-husband took when her son was born: "He brought my daughter to the hospital , and she held out her sippy cup to her brother, saying 'baby drink.'"
When I asked about her favorite photo that she took, she laughed and said "I'm such a mom. One morning - it was the first time my son was old enough to take note that it was snowing - my daughter was standing up, looking out the window. My son climbed up to look out, and put his arm around her. The picture itself isn't very good. They are looking out at the snow, but the window is black, so you can't see it. But I know what they are doing, and love this moment of pure childhood wonder. They just loved each other. "
As far as pictures of her kids, while she is happy to have Otto take posed pictures of the children, she prefers the candids: "I like the pictures of the two of them making funny faces and doing ridiculous things. The kind of pictures I like are the ones that I'll look back and remember, that is what it was really like."
Mir had quite a few ideas on how she might use her HP Photo Books, including one for herself with some of her favorite pictures of her children and one for her parents with pictures of her recent wedding. She also came up with a great idea for a project you can do with your kids: "We are making a Photo Book for my son's soccer coach and the entire team is SO EXCITED!"

" I am really bad about printing out pictures, although I do make a photo calendar every Christmas. The grandparents love it, and missed it the one year I didn't do it."
