Your music, photos, videos and other media are part of your life - but they're scattered over multiple computers, disk drives, CDs, DVDs, and MP3 players...Macs and iPods® too. The HP MediaSmart Server centralizes all your files, from all your home computers, in one place so you can grab them anywhere you have an internet connection and share how you want.

Automatic backup. Automatic backup and recovery features let the HP MediaSmart Server back up and protect data on all Windows® XP and Windows Vista® PCs—and Macs with OS 10.5 or later running Time Machine. Server backup. For true protection against fires, floods, or other natural disasters, expansion ports on the HP MediaSmart Servers can back up your data to external hard disk drives for off-site storage. The servers can even let you use the Amazon S3 online backup service. Virus protection. A server-side McAfee antivirus software trial offer helps protect the server—and your network—against online threats, running quick scans of specific folders or deep scans across the entire server.
Remote access. Even when you’re away from home, your password-protected web portal allows access to the files stored on your HP MediaSmart Server from any Internet-connected computer. You can even stream music, photos and video directly to these remote computers, or to your iPhone* or other popular portable devices. Centralized storage. The HP MediaSmart Server provides shared storage for everyone’s music, DVD files*, videos, and photos—and lets everyone access them through the home network. Simple online sharing. The HP MediaSmart Server lets you give friends and family remote access to your personal photo albums, and HP Photo Publisher makes it easy to upload photos to popular photo sharing websites such as Snapfish, Facebook, Picasa™, and Flickr™.** * Selected server models only ** Services are subject to change without notice, and some services may not be available at time of product purchase. Your scene to the big-screen. Use the HP MediaSmart Server and a digital media adapter** such as an Xbox 360, or PlayStation®3, to stream your photos, music, and videos straight to your entertainment center—bringing digital media to the center of the home entertainment experience. The personal music jukebox. With your iTunes music files stored on the HP MediaSmart Server, everyone on the network can enjoy music and playlists through one shared library. Take your show on the road. Even when you’re away from home, the HP MediaSmart Server lets you remotely stream your photos, music and video* to an Internet-connected PC. The HP MediaSmart Server automatically backs up both Windows PCs running Microsoft's Windows Home Server Backup and Apple Macs using Apple's Time Machine software. The initial configuration of the HP MediaSmart Server requires a Windows-based system, but after installing the Control Center for Mac OS, you can:
