Virtual Partitions (vPars)

HP-UX Virtual Partitions (vPars) version A.02 is available for Superdome customers

This bulletin applies to customers who have received the following HP software product:

§          HP-UX 11i Virtual Partitions (vPars) – version A.01 (product # T1335AC) [CD part # 5012-0001]

Or who have downloaded vPars from the following website:

§          http://software.hp.com  (select “enhancement releases”, then “hp-ux virtual partitions”)

And who are using one of the following vPars-compatible HP servers:

§          Superdome Enterprise Server [product # A5200A]

§          rp5470 (L3000) Enterprise Servers [products # A6144A, A6144B]

§          rp7400/N4000 Enterprise Servers [products # A3639A, A3639B, A3639C]

Hewlett-Packard has released the latest HP-UX 11i Virtual Partitions (vPars) product version A.02, which adds
support for the Superdome Enterprise server along with the two servers noted above.

Key new functionality provided with vPars version A.02 release also includes:

1.       Improved vPars deployment with Ignite/UX

2.       Simplified vPars setup and management with the vparmgr GUI

3.       Increased vPars flexibility and integration with HP-UX Instant Capacity on Demand (iCOD) and
HP nPartitions (hard partitions)

4.       Enhanced vPars integration with HP-UX Workload Manager

Customers who wish to install vPars on their Superdome server should use the following CD that accompanies this
letter to install HP-UX 11i vPars version A.02:

§; HP-UX 11i  Virtual Partitions (vPars) - version A.02  [CD part # 5012-1925]

NOTE:  HP-UX 11i vPars version A.01 only supports the rp5470(L3000) and rp7400/N4000 servers.
