HP-UX 11.0 March 2002 Ignite-UX product release contains reversed filesets.
This bulletin applies to HP customers who, according to our records, have received the following HP-UX 11.0 CDs:
§ Application Release – March 2002 [CD part # 5012-0039 - 1ST of 6 CDs]
§ Special Application Software Ignite-UX – February 2002 [CD part # 5012-2896, Japan only release]
And who have received the following HP-UX 11.0 Ignite-UX product on the above CDs:
§ Ignite-UX – version B.3.6.82 – March 2002 [product # B5725AA]
Hewlett-Packard has identified an issue with the HP-UX 11.0
March 2002 Ignite-UX product. The
March 2002 Ignite-UX product
(version B.3.6.82) contains incorrect Ignite-UX-11-00 and Ignite-UX-11-11
associated bundles. The HP-UX 11.0 associated bundle
contains the FILE-SRV-11-11 fileset that is for HP-UX 11i and the HP-UX 11i
associated bundle contains the FILE-SRV-11-00 fileset
that is for HP-UX 11.0.
HP customers who are updating to Ignite-UX version B.3.6.82
from an older version will see a warning message in
/var/adm/sw/swagent.log indicating a fileset version mismatch. HP customers who are installing Ignite-UX version
B.3.6.82 for the first time will see no warning or error but will experience
unreliable Ignite-UX behavior.
In either case, the workaround noted below must be performed to minimize similar usage issues with future Ignite-UX versions.
NOTE: The principle
Ignite-UX bundle, B5725AA, the HP-UX 10.20 and HP-UX 11i associated bundles,
and the Ignite-UX B.3.6.82
website download version are not affected by this issue.
HP's
Recommendation:
§ HP strongly recommends you perform the following workaround to place the correct filesets on the system:
1. To correct the 11i associated bundles, login as root, identify the cdrom device file and execute the following commands:
# cd /
# swremove Ignite-UX.FILE-SRV-11-00
# mount /dev/... /cdrom
# swinstall -s /cdrom Ignite-UX.FILE-SRV-11-11
# umount /dev/…/cdrom
2. To correct the 11.0 associated bundle, login as root, identify the cdrom device file and execute the following commands:
# cd /
# swremove Ignite-UX.FILE-SRV-11-11
# mount /dev/... /cdrom
# swinstall -s /cdrom Ignite-UX.FILE-SRV-11-00
# umount /dev/…/cdrom
§
The following CD that accompanies this letter can
be used to install an updated Ignite-UX product after the workaround noted
above has been performed:
§ Ignite-UX – version B.3.6.83 – April 2002 [Special CD part # 5012-1916]
§
The Ignite-UX
product (version B.3.6.82) that is on the HP website does not have this issue and can be downloaded to either an
11.0 or 11i server from the HP Software Depot website:
NOTE: The workaround noted above must still be performed if Ignite-UX version B.3.6.82 has been installed from the CD media noted above.
§
To determine if an Ignite-UX server or depot contains
incorrect Ignite-UX-11-00 and Ignite-UX-11-11 associated bundles,
execute the following command (where <target> is the system name and
<your-path> is the absolute directory path of your depot) on either
a HP-UX 11.0 or 11i server and compare the output:
# swlist -l fileset -a architecture –a revision -s <target>:/<your-path> Ignite-UX-11-00
1.
The results for the incorrect
HP-UX 11.0 media release of Ignite-UX version B.3.6.82 would be similar to:
Ignite-UX-11-00.Ignite-UX.FILE-SRV-11-11 HP-UX_B.11.00_32/64 B.3.6.82
2.
The results for the corrected
HP-UX 11.0 media release of Ignite-UX version B.3.6.83 would be similar to:
Ignite-UX-11-00.Ignite-UX.FILE-SRV-11-00 HP-UX_B.11.00_32/64 B.3.6.83
3.
The results for the unaffected
HP-UX 10.20/11.0/11i Ignite-UX download version B.3.6.82 would be similar
to:
Ignite-UX-11-00.Ignite-UX.FILE-SRV-11-00 HP-UX_B.11.11_32/64 B.3.6.82
