HP-UX  Support Plus Update Release  for  December 2003

Hewlett-Packard is pleased to announce the latest release of HP-UX Support Plus.  These tested bundles include patches that fix HP-UX defects, enable new hardware, and provide diagnostic tools.  Support Plus is available to customers by request only.  Please use the following information to decide whether this release is right for you.

Special Note:

Hewlett-Packard will offer the final Quality Pack (QPK) and Hardware Enablement (HWE) bundles for HP-UX 11.0 (B.11.00) in March 2004.  This is in alignment with the discontinuance of HP-UX 11.0 on March 31, 2004.  These bundles are not rolling on the December 2003 Support Plus release.

While Hewlett-Packard will no longer refresh these bundles after March 2004, you can still obtain them from the Support Plus web page at http://software.hp.com/SUPPORT PLUS.  Also, Hewlett-Packard will continue to provide new and recommended HP-UX 11.0 patches, as well as updated information about the patches in the March 2004 bundles, at the ITRC Resource Center.  The URL is: http://itrc.hp.com.  For Europe, the URL is: http://Europe.itrc.hp.com.

New in Support Plus!

Hewlett-Packard would like to remind you that the end of service date for HP-UX Predictive Support is April 1, 2004.  After this date, Predictive events for HP-UX will no longer be processed.  As a part of the HP-UX Predictive Support discontinuance, all HP-UX Predictive Support customers are encouraged to migrate to HP Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE), Hewlett-Packard’s next generation remote support solution.

HP ISEE is a single, common remote support solution that lets you manage supported HP-UX, MS Windows and Red Hat Linux servers, connected peripherals, Hewlett-Packard storage devices, and network interconnect devices that span everything from simple configurations to complex mission-critical IT environments.  By providing a single remote support solution for multiple operating systems and devices, ISEE can help eliminate the need for you to manage multiple support tools across your IT environment, thus reducing complexity and support cost.

HP ISEE uses continuous hardware event monitoring and automated notification, to proactively identify and prevent potential critical problems.  Through remote diagnostic scripts and vital configuration information collected, HP ISEE enables fast restoration of supported systems, storage and network devices.

Hewlett-Packard encourages you to begin using ISEE as soon as possible, so that you can reap the benefits of this new technology.  HP ISEE A.03.00 is available on the December release of the Support Plus media for installation as the bundle ISEEPlatform within the HPUXAuxTools directory.  ISEE can also be downloaded from www.software.hp.com by selecting Instant Support Enterprise Edition under the “internet ready and networking” section or under the “Featured Products” section.  For more information on ISEE, visit http://www.hp.com/hps/hardware/hw_enterprise.html

If you have HP mission critical or select network support services, contact your Hewlett-Packard account support team to determine the appropriate remote support solution for your environment.
