Independent Pull Release

Requests for this Data Protector 6.0 are due back to Hewlett-Packard by September 26, 2008

In today's world, businesses are less and less able to tolerate the downtime associated with today's
back-up technology. This fundamental challenge is becoming ever more pressing as the volume of data
that organizations need to manage explodes every year.

HP's latest version of its data protection software, Data Protector 6.0, is designed to comprehensively
address all of the challenges outlined above. The software will enable rapid, automated and efficient
backup and recovery, from disk or tape, over any distance and comprises of the following key
enhancements:

1.	Unique, industry-first virtual full backup: Virtual full backup reduces the time and resources needed
to perform full backup using "pointers" rather than duplicating data - improving tape utilization and
providing heterogeneous data protection.
2.	Synthetic full backup: Synthetic full backup eliminates the need to run regular full backups by
consolidating incremental backups. Ideal solution for a distributed environment, minimizing the traffic
burden on the network.
3.	Instant, automated recovery of Microsoft Exchange Databases: Instant, automated recovery of
Microsoft Exchange Databases offers continuous mail service during backup by combining Microsoft
Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) and HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array replication
technologies, recovering terabytes of e-mail data in minutes, not hours.
4.	Incremental Zero Downtime Backup: Incremental Zero Downtime Backup provides support for
filesystem Zero Downtime Backup. Only those changes are captured that fit a specific backup
criterion, which reduces number of full backups needed.
5.	Overcomes local data loss: Overcomes local data loss by performing backup on the copy
of the production data in the remote site (Continuous Access) now also with HP StorageWorks
EVA disk array. Business Copy is available today.
