Insight (PI) software version 5.2.
This release is now shipping!
Highlights
of the PI 5.2 release are provided below:
NOTE: The partitioning feature is not
available on Sybase
Index profiles provide the administrator with flexibility
to have index maintenance fine tuned for different type of tables. This allows
the index maintenance to be distributed over a period of time, as opposed
to index maintenance for all tables being done at the same time.
When PI is setup in a distributed environment, LIR enables
near real time consolidated reporting of your entire PI monitored network
without
having to copy your rate data from the satellite servers to the central server.
After collection has stopped for a long period of time,
and then when the collection resumes, pa_collect
would ask the agents for all the
data since the last successful poll. This could result in huge amount of data,
and severely affect the performance of pa collection. You
can now configure MaxHistoryPoll field in $DPIPE_HOME/data/pa_rpt.cnfg.
This tells pa_collect how far back to go and collect the data
when collections resumes after having stopped for a long period of time.
Many customers have the requirement to retain the collected
data (or rate data) for a very long period of time. Without having any archiving
support within PI, customers had to increase the retention period of their
data tables. This affected the performance of summarizations and
reporting based on those tables. 5.2 now provides support to archive data
beyond the retention period. This allows the active data tables to
be small and thereby keeping up the performance of summarizations and reporting.
