In a WLAN, all the computers broadcast their information to one another using radio signals. This can make networking extremely easy and flexible, especially when you have computers throughout your office. A WLAN can work with notebooks, handhelds, printers, and other devices. Some ways that you can use a WLAN include:
• Set up a wireless network in your office: Employees can move from their desk to a conference room to a coworker's office, and have access to all their work.
• Stay connected while traveling: Each day, more and more public locations are "WiFi hotspots." When you're on the road, if you have embedded WiFi in your notebook, it's easy to find a location where you can be connected.
• Use a phone with your notebook: WLAN allows you to use a Voice Over IP (VoIP) phone with your notebook. Numerous companies provide this service, including Skype and Vonage.
