8 tips to maximize your battery

From smartphones to Notebook PCs, REALTORS get tips to extend the life of their batteries
Being a REALTOR you know that the key to success is not to just meet the expectations of your clients, but to exceed them. After all, word-of-mouth referrals are like gold in this industry. That's why you have to be connected 24/7 so that you can respond immediately to prospect leads and emails and access the MLS and other key sites at a moment's notice. Having a reliable mobile PC or smartphone isn't enough. You have to manage your battery usage and habits so that your device is ready when you are.
Avoid a dead-battery situation by following the eight tips below:
  1.  If you're not using the Internet, turn off your WiFi connection. This feature will waste valuable power even if it's not being used.
  2.  Can you live with a dimmer backlight? If so, reduce the intensity of the brightness and you'll save power. You can do this by holding down the function key (fn) while pressing down the F7 key. Want to increase the brightness, press the function and F8 key.
  3.  For cellphones and smartphones, turn Bluetooth off if you're not using it. It drains power faster than you think.
  4.  Don't leave your computer plugged in constantly when it's not in use. If your computer always relies on this power, it loses its ability to last on its own. Charge your computer when the battery is almost dead and then unplug it from the wall once it's fully charged.
  5.  Keep your computer in a well-ventilated place and avoid extreme temperatures. Extreme conditions can drain your battery prematurely. Your battery uses power more rapidly when it is hot because it is creating more energy and burning out faster.
  6.  Avoid turning your computer on and off frequently during the day. If you plan to leave your computer for short periods of time, set it to "sleep" mode while you are away.
  7.  If you're traveling, know that watching a 2+ hour DVD can drain an average battery. Have a layover? Remember to find an outlet in the airport and power your device in between flights.
  8.  When in doubt, have an extra battery on hand. That way, if you find yourself in the unlikely event of a low battery, you're covered. HP offers a variety of optional, add-on batteries that provide industry-leading battery life.
•  Combine the HP Ultra-Capacity Battery with your primary battery and stay productive for up to 15 hours1 without a charge (on select models). And it sits ergonomically under your notebook, not in place of the optical drive. HP Ultra-Capacity Battery
