Recover your lost, stolen laptop with LoJack

Get protection to recover your laptop when the unthinkable happens
The statistics about stolen laptops are staggering…
47% of computer security professionals surveyed reported a laptop theft over the past twelve months1.
From 2005 to 2006 there was an 81% increase in the number of companies reporting stolen laptops containing sensitive information2.
Gartner representatives said there is a 10% chance that a laptop will be stolen and a 20% chance a laptop will be lost or misplaced3.
  A laptop is stolen every 53 seconds4.
Over 600,000 notebooks are stolen every year
With statistics like these, it’s no wonder agents worry about losing their most-prized technology tool and the confidential data they carry around with them daily. After all, real estate professionals take their laptops to a multitude of public places like, coffee shops, open houses, airports, hotels and more. They are often even left in unattended cars like sitting ducks waiting to be nabbed. Cause for worry? You bet.
But now there’s good news. You can purchase technology that will recover your lost or stolen laptop. It works just like LoJack for cars, using remote tracking technology. More than 90% of laptops using this service are recovered. The service comes with a recovery guarantee of up to $1000 if a computer cannot be recovered within 60 days of theft and includes remote data delete capabilities to protect confidential data stored on the hard drive.

How to protect your laptop

Computrace LoJack for Laptops from Absolute Software is a recovery service that enables law enforcement to recover stolen Notebook PCs. When your Notebook PC is protected with this service, software installed in the notebook's BIOS works behind the scenes to silently and securely contact the Monitoring Center, and if stolen, report its location using any Internet connection, even if the hard drive is wiped.
You can get this protection one of two ways. If you already own a Notebook PC, you can purchase the software through HP with a one-year service plan ($49.99) or a three year service plan ($99.99) Or you can purchase a new HP business Notebook PC with the Computrace agent embedded in the BIOS. The agent ships in sleep-mode and must be activated by purchasing the HP Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) with computrace professional service. Browse HP Notebook PCs

How LoJack for laptops works

Let's say you leave your LoJack-equipped Notebook PC in your car while you run a quick errand. Your car gets broken into and your computer is stolen. Recovering it is as easy as 1-2-3.
  1.  You report the Notebook PC as stolen to Computrace (and local authorities).
  2.  Computrace flags the computer to silently and securely make a call to their web-based monitoring center to report its location.
  3.  Computrace Recovery Team tracks it and works with local law enforcement to recover the notebook.
So, if you're a real estate professional on the go and carry around a mobile computer, wouldn't you like the peace of mind knowing you can recover your PC and catch the unsuspecting thieves at the same time?
