HP solutions offer client-based security protection for your midsize business, with HP business continuity tools providing the safety net.

Protection starts at the PC

You have many types of computer security, from firewalls to antivirus in place, but how many times have you worried about data security, or worried that anyone could take sensitive information out of the building via a USB device or a CD-ROM?
To secure client-based data, HP has developed the HP ProtectTools security software suite that has independent modules to help protect your business and confidential data on your PCs and notebooks. Providing protection for your business that is easy to use and easy to implement is highly important as we design our products.
HP Protect Tools
HP ProtectTools Security Manager is an extensible framework that allows you to manage computer data protection features from one console on the client PC or notebook. From the Security Manager, you can enable rich features like:
Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools – Provides you the capability to encrypt everything on the hard drive to ensure your critical data is not accessible to anyone if your mobile unit or desktop is lost or stolen.
Device Access Manager - Selectively restrict information copying and printing based on user profile or device.
Embedded Security - Use the TPM embedded security chip to protect your data encryption key.
Java Card Security - Use HP ProtectTools Java Card to enhance user authentication.
BIOS Configuration for HP ProtectTools - Access and view the BIOS security and configuration settings from within the HP ProtectTools Security Manager application to take advantage of BIOS security features.
Credential Manager - Credential Manager is the glue that brings the different authentication technologies together to create a security behavior. You can create a unique authentication method, including alternatives to passwords such as fingerprint or smart card authentication when logging on to Microsoft Windows.
HP's strong partnerships with trusted security vendors ensure that when you want to extend your capabilities even further, you're already on the right path. Bioscrypt, for example, provides an extension to single sign-on called Verisoft Single Sign On, while McAfee can extend your drive encryption capabilities throughout your infrastructure with their enterprise software McAfee Endpoint Encryption.
HP also has several means to wipe a hard drive to Department of Defense levels. For business notebooks, the Disk Sanitizer is included as a standard feature. If you would prefer, HP will do it for you when you trade in your equipment or recycle it, and HP will employ the highest security standards. You will no longer have to worry anymore about end of life disk wiping.

Business continuity – every high-wire act deserves a safety net

You've seen the sheer amount of data in your company growing by leaps and bounds, and none of it is getting any less important to the health and well being of your organization. How do you protect that data on the ground? You can start with Business Desktops with RAID 1 Data Mirroring.
Having a mirrored hard drive doesn't protect you in the event of site destruction or other catastrophe. But when it comes to keeping the work flowing without missing a beat, data mirroring on redundant hard drives is hard to top. RAID 1 requires two hard drives of the same size and specifications to mirror data precisely, but HP helps with the configuration. All you have to do is turn on the PC when it arrives.
Ordering a PC with RAID 1 and an extra hard drive might seem like a luxury, but the cost differential will seem meaningless the first time data mirroring saves a project in the nick of time. Plus, if you’re running HP Client Automation, the user and/or the IT Administrator will be notified automatically of the failure.
Another facet of security and business protection is centralized manageability. HP dc7000-series Business Desktop PCs with optional Intel® vPro™ technology1 provide that kind of central control, working in tandem with popular network management products. Using Intel Active Management Technology (iAMT), you can control your network centrally, giving you a wide range of remote capabilities, even if PCs are shut down.
Remotely check inventory and repair PCs in a secure environment, even if a PC is powered down.
Isolate infected systems quickly.
Proactively administer security updates.
Provide the big picture in no time with fast, accurate PC inventory.
HP's security and business continuity solutions for the midmarket are simple to employ, effective and proactive, providing your business with the right protection at the right time.
