The Ricoh CL4000DN, CL7000, and CL7100 use granular toner, shown below, and oil-fusing technology, which HP internal testing has shown can lead to problems with everyday printing.
The oil-fusing technology gives the fuser the same amount of oil regardless of toner coverage. This means that on low-coverage pages, transparency, or duplex printing, excess fuser oil can noticeably stain the output and possibly contaminate the engine. Moving the printer or changing the oil kit can also cause contamination. On high-coverage pages, there may not be enough oil for Ricoh fuser to release media correctly, which may lead to jams.
HP's innovative color spherical toner, shown below, ensures worry-free printing.
The release agent in the toner minimizes jams while charge agents optimize particle distribution to ensure accurate line widths, sharp edges and text, smooth images, finer details, and precise color-plane registration and trapping.
Advanced HP fusing and toner technology delivers reliable print quality
Reliability means fewer errors and print quality you can count on. Compare these results achieved with the HP Color LaserJet 4650 and the Ricoh CL4000DN, using 53-lb./200-gsm stock. HP Color LaserJet 4650 vs. Ricoh CL4000DN
HP Color LaserJet 4650 outputRicoh CL4000DN output The advanced fusing and toner technology in the HP Color LaserJet 4650 ensures reliable printing on a wider array of media. The toner has not fused completely on this Ricoh CL4000DN output because the device uses older toner and oil-based fuser technology. Also, note the poor color-plane registration.
HP supports heavier media
Based on published specifications, for a mix of office printing and in-house printing, the HP Color LaserJet 5550, 9500, and 9050 models support heavier paper weights than comparable Ricoh models.
