Reduce consumables interventions

HP's advanced printing technologies reduce the number of consumables interventions required for the following HP LaserJet printers than comparable Ricoh products.
• The HP Color LaserJet 5550 has only six replacement consumables to manage vs. 11 for the Ricoh CL7000.
• The HP Color LaserJet 4650 has only six replacement consumables to manage vs. nine for the Ricoh CL4000DN. The HP Color LaserJet 3700 has only six replacement consumables vs. seven plus one maintenance kit for the Ricoh CL1000n.
• HP's Color LaserJet 9500 toner cartridge capacities at 25,000 CMYK pages are substantially greater than Ricoh's CL7000 cartridge at only 10,000 CMY and 20,000 K pages.
• The Ricoh CL7000 and CL7100 require special tools to change consumables while the HP Color LaserJet 5550 does not.
• Ricoh CL7000 and CL7100 users also must replace messy oil-supply kits while HP Color LaserJet 5550 users do not.

Print more with the toner in the box

All HP LaserJet printers ship with standard cartridges — not low-capacity ones - so you don't have to buy new supplies soon after your purchase.
HP internal testing shows that the Ricoh CL7000 and CL7100 shipped with low-capacity toner cartridges as compared to the standard cartridges that ship with the HP LaserJet 5550 and 9500. The graph below shows how many pages each printer model can produce with the shipped toner assuming the printed information covers five percent of the page.

Replace fewer parts beyond toner with HP

It's important to consider what other parts beside toner will need replacing. HP Color LaserJet printers have fewer replacement parts beyond toner in the first 200,000 pages than their Ricoh counterparts, as you can see in the graph below. The HP Color LaserJet 4650 and 5550 need two parts beyond toner. The Ricoh CL4000DN needs 13 replacement parts beyond toner, while the Ricoh CL7000 requires 24 replacement parts beyond toner.

Simplify troubleshooting

HP printers are designed to require less maintenance and provide a better end-user experience.
• Fewer paper-path access points. With fewer paper-path access points, troubleshooting is easier. The HP LaserJet 9050 has two access points compared to five on Ricoh's AP4510.
• No knobs to turn. HP internal testing has shown that when clearing paper jams, Ricoh users often have to turn knobs, which can create confusion because some must be turned clockwise and others counterclockwise.
• Consistent interfaces. The driver interface and embedded web server interface and functionality are common across the entire HP printer and MFP lineup.
• Intuitive graphical control panel. The HP control panel provides context-sensitive help for end-users, displays up to four lines of text and animation simultaneously, and uses toner gauges to provide an easy-to-see snapshot of supplies levels. Ricoh doesn't offer this type of advanced control panel, as the following images show.
