Description
This compressed, self-extracting file contains software version E.07.40 for the HP ProCurve Series 5300xl Switches and features the following enhancements (available since E.06.05): Support for the HP ProCurve Gigabit xl 100-FX MTRJ Module (J4852A), Support for Access Control Lists (ACL), support for XL Router Redundancy Protocol (XRRP), support for Secure Socket Layer (SSL), support for Secure Shell version 2 (SSHv2), support for Simple Network Management Protocol version 3 (SNMPv3), support for Debug and Syslog, enhancements to OSPF to include authentication security, additional support for IGMPv3 interoperability, and enhancements to Switch Meshing. In addition, E.07.40 also includes an automatic switch Boot ROM update to version E.05.04. The compressed file contains the software itself (E_07_40.swi) and the release notes (E0740RELNOTES.PDF).
NOTE: The startup-config file saved under version E.07.xx is NOT backward-compatible with previous software versions. The user is advised to save a copy of the pre-07.xx startup-config file BEFORE UPGRADING to E.07.xx or greater, in case there is ever a need to revert back to pre-07.xx software. Instructions for saving a copy of the startup-config file are found in the "Transferring Switch Configurations" section of Appendix A in the Management and Configuration Guide that shipped with the switch.
