HP ProCurve Switch Growth Continues to Surpass Market
Double-digit Ethernet switch port shipment and revenue growth year-over-year continues at HP

PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 3, 2003 - ProCurve Networking by HP led the worldwide Ethernet switch market in terms of revenue and port shipment growth among all tracked competitors year-over-year for the third quarter of calendar year 2003, according to the latest report released by Dell'Oro Group.(1)

Results from the analyst firm's recent report examining the worldwide layer 2 through layer 7 Ethernet switch market revealed HP ProCurve's revenue share grew 46 percent year-over-year with port shipments growing 44.6 percent.

HP ProCurve's switch port shipment growth quarter-over-quarter was 23.1 percent, twice the rate of the market. Dell'Oro Group also reported substantial HP ProCurve growth in the layer 3 switch market, with port shipments increasing 32.8 percent quarter-over-quarter.

HP ProCurve moved into the No. 1 position in layer 3 modular 1000 switch port shipments with 20.2 percent market share in the third quarter, and it remained in the No. 1 position in the layer 3 10/100 modular port shipments with 42.5 percent market share for the same period.

Regarding total layer 2 through layer 7 switch port shipments, HP ProCurve remained No. 2 in North America. It also advanced to the No. 2 position in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with 15.8 percent market share in the third quarter of 2003 and 59.6 percent year-over-year growth.
