HP Advances its Storage Networking Infrastructure Leadership
Highly Scalable, Flexible Solutions That Help Enterprises Meet Growing Demand For Affordable Storage
PALO ALTO, Calif., May 8, 2001 -- Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HWP), today announced eight storage networking products and solutions that will help IT managers affordably and efficiently scale their storage systems to meet fast-growing demands. The products and solutions further the capabilities of Ethernet networking for use in highly available, efficient storage infrastructures.

The new high reliability networking products were designed to deliver industry-leading price and performance. The new offerings include the ProCurve Networking by HP Switch 4108gl, the ProCurve Networking by HP mini-GBIC modules and the HP ProCurve Network Management for OpenView-NT.
The new ProCurve Networking by HP Switch 4108gl is a high port density, high performance, Layer 2 modular switch that addresses the needs of medium, large and enterprise customers requiring high volume connections in the wiring closet. In addition to an uninterrupted connectivity guarantee, the new switch can scale to meet customers' growing network needs, supports secure connections, has a lifetime warranty.
Four new gigabit ProCurve Networking by HP 9300 Switch modules include managed and unmanaged versions of 8-port mini-GBIC, gigabit SX and gigabit LX mini-GBIC's. The products provide the necessary flexible media solution for ProCurve Networking by HP module routing switches. HP offers financing options for the new modules, requiring customers to pay only for the mini-GBIC's needed.
The ProCurve Networking by HP OpenView-NT management tool supports up to 500 ProCurve switches. The software provides device management, a traffic monitor, schedulable software updates and group management.
To support the networking life cycle, HP offers service providers and enterprise customers industry-leading network services and support specifically designed for multi-vendor network environments. Services include assessment, planning and design through global implementation, operation, to ongoing e-maintenance for both LANs and WANs.
