HP Introduces ProCurve Networking by HP 9300 1000Base-T Module Gigabit-Over-Copper Solutions
Module Provides Ideal Solution as an Interconnect Between Switches or Switch-to-server
PALO ALTO, Calif., June 5, 2000 -- Hewlett-Packard Company today announced the addition of the Gigabit Ethernet-over-copper HP ProCurve 9300 1000Base-T Module to its product line. The ProCurve Networking by HP 9300 1000Base-T Module, the latest member of the ProCurve Networking by HP 9300 Routing Switch family of modules, offers eight ports of 1000Base-T, allowing connections over Category 5 or better copper UTP cable at up to 100m.
This module is ideal low-cost, high-bandwidth solution for switch-to-switch or switch-to-server connections and -- at a price two-thirds the cost of the ProCurve Networking by HP 9300 Routing Switch Gigabit-SX solution -- the module's connections are expected to replace the use of Gigabit-SX connections for distances under 100m.
"With this new module, HP continues to broaden its offerings for this important new technology," said Jan Bell, worldwide marketing manager for ProCurve Networking by HP. "HP customers now have a copper Gigabit solution for the core of their networks, complementing the wiring closet copper Gigabit solution for the ProCurve Networking by HP Switch 4000m, which has been shipping since October."
U.S. Pricing and Availability
The ProCurve Networking by HP 9300 1000Base-T Module (J4842A) is $16,999 and is available now through HP's worldwide network of authorized computer dealers, resellers and distributors.
