ProCurve Networking by HP Joins Ethernet Alliance to Drive Adoption of Ethernet in the Enterprise

PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 1, 2006 - ProCurve Networking by HP today announced that it has joined the Ethernet Alliance, an industry group dedicated to the continued success and expansion of Ethernet technology. ProCurve joins as a principal member and has been appointed as a voting member to both the marketing and technical committees.

"The Ethernet Alliance is committed to the continued success and expansion of Ethernet technology, and ProCurve is pleased to support this alliance as a principal member," said Paul Congdon, chief technology officer, ProCurve Networking. "We plan to use our experience with innovation and leadership in the Ethernet space to aid the alliance in its mission to promote industry awareness and advancement of Ethernet technology."

ProCurve has a long history with standards development and fostering the advancement of Ethernet based technologies, from the creation of 10BASE-T through to leadership of current standards such as 802.3AN 10GBASE-T and 802.3AK CX-4.

The Ethernet Alliance was created to promote industry awareness, acceptance and advancement of technology and products based on existing and emerging IEEE 802 Ethernet standards. The organization accelerates industry adoption and removes barriers to market entry by providing a cohesive, market responsive, industry voice on IEEE 802 Ethernet projects.
