ProCurve Networking by HP Sponsors "Internet as a Production Tool" Panel at Cannes Film Festival
CANNES, France, May 15, 2000 -- Hewlett-Packard Company, as part of its alliance with the Variety Pavilion, today announced it will sponsor a panel, "The Internet as a Production Tool," here at the 53rd Annual Cannes Film Festival. In addition, HP is providing the full IT infrastructure for the Variety Pavilion at Cannes, the newsroom headquarters for all on-site Variety Magazine editors, as well as the venue for the Cannes Conference series.
The panel will be held on Tuesday, May 16, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Filmmakers, Internet pioneers, producers and infrastructure providers for Internet-era filmmaking will discuss how the Internet is changing the way films are made and the way crucial creative and collaborative processes work. The panel will be followed by the European premiere screening of "The Quantum Project," an all-digitally shot and edited film.
Brice Clark, director of strategic planning for ProCurve Networking by HP, will be featured on the panel led by Mayra Langdon Riesman, founder of Film Scouts, the pioneer in motion picture Web casting. Other panelists from the entertainment and technology industry will include Scott Sander, chief executive officer of SightSound.com.
