PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec, 14, 2004 - ProCurve Networking by HP today announced that based on evaluations on both ability to execute and completeness of vision, the enterprise networking vendor has been listed in the challenger quadrant in the 2004 Magic Quadrant for Global Campus LANs report prepared by research and advisory firm Gartner, Inc.1

ProCurve, a participant in the networking sector for more than 25 years, is a supplier of wired and wireless enterprise networking products, services and solutions, enabling intelligent network design through the ProCurve Adaptive EDGE Architecture.

Gartner Magic Quadrants measure and compare companies in a specific industry in terms of their ability to execute and the completeness of their vision.

Ability to execute measures how a vendor is performing in the current market. Consideration is given to areas such as service and support, product distribution, investment in the market and financial performance.

Completeness of vision measures a vendor's understanding of the market and their preparedness to meet market requirements into the future. Criteria examined include product scope and direction, technology and architectures and the management of their product portfolios.

"Enterprise customers demand more today from their networks than ever before," said John McHugh, vice president and general manager, ProCurve Networking by HP. "We believe that Gartner has recognized ProCurve's proven ability to meet business needs by making advanced networking technology affordable and driving innovation in the critical areas of network security, mobility and convergence."

According to Gartner, vendors listed in the Challenger's quadrant execute well today, but have a less-defined view of market direction and, therefore, may not be aggressive in their preparation for the future.
