HP StorageWorks Rapid Backup Solution with Direct Backup Engine XP is designed to provide more efficient backup within a Storage Area Network for enterprise customers with mission critical applications. The tight integrated with Business Copy XP, Direct Backup Engine XP and backup software products, enables the ability to backup data directly from the disk array to the tape library within a SAN. Worldwide consulting and support services are available for design and implementation of a Direct Backup solution within existing or new backup environments.
» Technical support
The Direct Backup solution utilizes Business Copy XP to make a point-in-time copy of the data, then the data movement of the copy to tape is performed through the Direct Backup Engine (or data mover) on the Disk Array XP. A data mapping function from the backup software products provides the mapping of the data through the various software and system layers which enables faster restore of the data from tape within the application or database.
