The HP StorageWorks Ultrium 448 is an affordable, half-height LTO 2 drive with 400 GB of compressed capacity on a single cartridge and a transfer rate of 172 GB/hr (assuming 2:1 data compression). The Ultrium 448 is fully read- and write-compatible with all first-generation Ultrium tape drives. This drive features HP's exclusive dynamic data rate matching to optimize performance and maximize reliability and supports HP One-Button Disaster Recovery on HP ProLiant SAS-based servers.

Note: For HP StorageWorks SAS tape drives not detected by backup applications on Windows 2003 SP2 with HP Smart Array SAS RAID controllers, please refer to HP Customer Advisory c01151607.


1  This adapter requires 2 PCI server slots to connect the external and rack-mount drive options using the appropriate internal-to-external SAS split cables. An appropriate internal-to-external SAS split cable for the external drive option is provided with the HP StorageWorks Ultrium 448 SAS External Tape Drive. For Rack-Mount drive options, please purchase the appropriate cable listed above. Alternatively, if this configuration is not preferred you may directly connect your external and rack-mount drive options to the external port(s) by purchasing the appropriate external-to-external SAS cable, listed above.

2  This adapter requires 2 PCI server slots to connect the external and rack-mount drive options using the appropriate internal-to-external SAS split cables. An appropriate internal-to-external SAS split cable for the external drive option is provided with the HP StorageWorks Ultrium 448 SAS External Tape Drive. For Rack-Mount drive options, please purchase the appropriate cable listed above.
