| As more customers demand a seamless evolutionary path to industry standards, HP continues to deliver enhancements to its server portfolio. These enhancements include
new PA-RISC 8900 processors for the HP 9000 server line supported by HP-UX 11i, further demonstrating HP's decades-long commitment to HP 9000 customers. The new processors complete HP's PA-RISC
server roadmap and accelerate the transition to standards-based HP Integrity servers.
In addition, the enhancements include the following features:
- New 'mix and match' of PA-RISC and Intel® Itanium® 2 processors in HP Integrity Superdomes make transition to Integrity easier
- All HP 9000 servers shipping today are in-box upgradeable to multiple generations of Itanium-based HP Integrity servers
- Supported by HP-UX 11i OS binary, source and data compatibilities
- Enhancements to HP Virtual Server Environment for HP -UX 11i
(vPars, Secure Partitions)
- 4000+ applications now available on HP Integrity servers
In combination, these enhancements allow customers to leverage up to 80 percent of their initial server investment when they upgrade their HP 9000 server to an HP Integrity server platform.

With the HP-UX 11i v2 operating environment on both HP 9000 and HP Integrity servers, customers get industry-leading, integrated and secure virtualization with the HP Virtual Server Environment for
HP-UX 11i (vPars, Secure Partitions). The HP Virtual Server Environment (VSE) is designed to allow enterprises to achieve a greater return on their IT investments by optimizing server resource
utilization on a real-time basis according to business priorities.
HP-UX 11i v2 also provides strong investment protection with built-in application and data compatibility between HP 9000 and HP Integrity servers for an easy transition path to HP Integrity servers.
