Does the HP e3000 Hardware Upgrade and Software Right to Use (RTU) Licensing
Policy and new AD377A product offering affect you?
This policy applies if you are planning to perform a hardware upgrade upgrade
or replace a lost MPE/iX RTU license on your HP e3000 systems. Since the HP
e3000 ended sales for systems, add-on components, and upgrade kits in 2004,
customers who want to upgrade their existing e3000 systems have begun asking HP
for guidelines on how they can ensure that their upgraded systems are meeting
HP's MPE/iX Right to Use (RTU) license and e3000 hardware upgrade requirements.
. There have also been requests for a process to replace a lost MPE/iX RTU
license in the case where an HP e3000 system has no documented history, such as
a PO, invoice, or a support contract
As a result of these requests, a Hardware Upgrade and Software RTU Licensing
Policy Statement has been generated to clarify possible confusion in the
marketplace. We have also created a stand-alone MPE/iX RTU license product
(AD377A) that is not coupled with any secondary hardware system sales. With
these two deliverables, HP hopes to make the HP e3000 hardware upgrade and
software RTU licensing process clearer and more manageable.
If you are planning to perform any upgrades or RTU license replacement to your
existing e3000 systems, please read the following communications to gain a solid
