MPE/iX Read-Only Source Code Licensees
Hewlett-Packard announced in 2008 that they
would create a limited number of fee-based
source code licenses that will allow third
parties to use MPE/iX source code as reference
material for providing technical support to HP
e3000 customers, where technical support
includes investigating problems, developing
workarounds, and creating instruction-level,
binary patches. The license is targeted at those
third parties whose business model is to provide
technical support on HP e3000 products. HP
worked with interested parties and we are
pleased to announce the
HP e3000 End-Of-Life Licensees. As always,
this announcement does not reflect a change in
HP's continued strong recommendation that
customers proceed immediately with planning and
implementing transitions off the e3000. However,
we recognize that some customers may still need
some level of MPE/iX support after HP exits the
HP e3000 Support business on December 31, 2010.
Thereafter, customers will have multiple options
for MPE/iX assistance by contacting the
applicable source code licensees. As previously
communicated, source code licensees will not be
permitted to use MPE/iX source code in the
delivery of system-level technical support prior
to January 1, 2011.
Locating Former HP Jazz Content on BSC
As stated in the August 2009 e3000 Customer
Communication – “docs.hp.com documentation
migration”, the docs.hp.com content has moved to
the Business Support Center (BSC), a central
repository for HP technical documentation and
additional support information.
www.hp.com/bizsupport
As part of the MPE/iX migration, HP-contributed
content that was formerly provided on the MPE/iX
external web server jazz.external.hp.com (HP
Jazz) is now available on BSC as part of the
MPE/iX collection
www.hp.com/go/e3000-docs
To assist our customers in locating the migrated
HP Jazz content, HP Support has provided a
navigation map
In addition, the HP MPE/iX Lab has granted
licenses to a few third-party partners so they
may host some HP Jazz content on their servers.
Refer to
HP e3000 End-Of-Life Licensees for more
information.
Discontinuance of new XP Firmware
Regression Testing on MPE/iX
With the upcoming end of HP support for MPE/iX
on December 31, 2010, and the low customer
demand for new XP firmware, HP has discontinued
regression testing of new XP firmware on MPE/iX.
Customers can contact their local support center
for XP firmware currently supported on MPE/iX.
