Many customers with older AlphaServers are trying to
determine the best course of action for upgrading their IT infrastructure to
meet their business requirements.
- Extend the life cycle of your AlphaServer investment -- if you are satisfied with the functionality available on Tru64 UNIX or OpenVMS
- Transition to Integrity server -- if you need unmatched price/performance, superior partitioning and virtualization capabilities, security, and system management capabilities

HP AlphaServer
systems with OpenVMS
and Tru64 UNIX® continue to offer
rock-solid reliability, excellent price/performance, application availability
and performance, and simplified management and flexibility, making them an
excellent choice for an upgrade or IT consolidation project.
» AlphaServer Product Availability and Support Roadmaps
For OpenVMS customers, the path forward is simple. HP ported
OpenVMS, its layered applications, and development tools to HP Integrity
servers. OpenVMS v8.2, based on a common source code stream for AlphaServer and
Integrity Server, began shipping in January 2005. ISVs strongly endorsed this
port, and key applications and databases such as Oracle Rdb are now available.
Because customers can smoothly integrate Integrity servers into an existing
OpenVMS cluster, the main transition trigger is application software
availability.
For Tru64 UNIX customers, the path to Integrity server typically
requires a transition to HP-UX 11i. HP has developed excellent services
and tools to help you smoothly transition and gain the business benefits of
HP Integrity server sooner.
