The Imager Controller subsystem encloses and protects the electronics and is designed for either floor or rack mounting. The Imager Controller performs these functions:
Receives data for printing via the Gigabit LAN port
Receives commands and transmits status information to OEM master controller/print server
Regulates DC power for the Imager Controller, IDS, and Imaging Module
Processes incoming data for the printheads. Receives media position feedback signals for image control (encoder and top of form)
Controls the service station and imaging module motors
The Q7473L Imager Controller includes an integrated circuit board for expanded GPIO features, and a
digital fi ltering enhancement on the encoder signal. (Note: Enhanced fi rmware functionality not available for
Q7473A Imager Controllers.)
Dual Imager Controller
The Dual Imager Controller has an imager-controller module board to control up to two imaging printheads.
It features:
I/O card with LAN interface to OEM system
Motor driver board for driving imager-printhead carriage motors and service-station motors
Command library of printhead and smart chip control
Printhead auto-servicing control
Encoder and top-of-form input connections
Two 300-watt and two 350-watt power supplies
Enhanced printing modes for porous media
Dimensions: 11.5 x 17.25 x 20 inches (292 x 438 x 508 mm)
Imaging Module
The Imaging Module has two subsystems: the imaging head and the service station.
The imaging head subassembly provides data and control for the five replaceable printheads. It includes the printheads, backplane printed circuit assembly (PCA), and carriage PCA.
The service station subassembly uses the printhead cleaners to automatically maintain the printheads in optimal printing condition.
Ink Delivery System
The Ink Delivery System (IDS) stores and controls two 775 ml bulk ink cartridges, which operate serially and can be hot-swapped. The bulk ink cartridges are contained in a single enclosure. The IDS performs these functions:
Delivers ink to the printheads
Performs ink level sensing
Printhead
This modular printhead is designed with HP's most advanced
Native resolution: 600 dpi
Drop volume: 15-18 pl
Maximum fi ring frequency: 36 kHz
Printhead dimensions: 65 mm x 50.5 mm x 18.5 mm
775 ml Ink Cartridge
This bulk ink cartridge contains 775 ml of ink to keep ink costs low and reduce operator interventions.
A smart chip stores technical data and enables electronic ink level detection.
Capacity: 775 ml
Dimensions: approximately 257 mm x 120 mm x 53 mm
Eight electrical interface contacts
Septum ports for air and ink connections to the ink-delivery system
External latching surfaces and locating datums
Black 4240 Pigment
Printhead Cleaner
This disposable printhead cleaner caps the printhead while the system is idle. During printing, the printhead cleaner automatically wipes the printhead at regular intervals.
The printhead cleaner should be replaced at the same time as the print head.
