| The LaserJet printer launched in 1984 did not compare to any other printer available at that time. It was designed to provide desktop PC users with direct access to their printers. That innovation was adapted to offices, offering high speed and quality printing with minimal noise. Before 1984, the professional printers available were dot-matrix and daisy-wheel printers, which were extremely noisy. Dot-matrix printers had a low resolution and daisy-wheel ones allowed just a limited number of fonts. LaserJet printers soon became a standard office equipment. |
