This second session of OpenVMS Best Practices tackles the
real world problem of using HP Host Based Volume Shadowing
for OpenVMS product between sites. As the distance between
sites increases, so does the time to transmit the data
between sites. The increased time involved in the
replication of data impacts how we should configure OpenVMS
to attain the greatest possible reliability and performance.
Included in this session will be:
- An overview of the protocols used to write data
- An overview of methods to reduce the time involved
- An overview of other data replication technologies
This session will provide the background information to
help the OpenVMS community better understand the issues
Upcoming sessions will deal with Volume Shadowing and
Disaster Tolerance, OpenVMS and EVA storage arrays, as well
as OpenVMS and XP disk arrays.
Offered: October 8, 2009
