Network security is high on the list of concerns for most businesses today. This 4-hour course covers the intricacies of the Open Secure Sockets Layer (OpenSSL) toolset — including symmetric and asymmetric encryption — and features a module on NFS security and a valuable introduction to other leading security tools. The basic network security information provided is OS-agnostic; however, HP-UX specific implementations will be discussed.
Topics covered include:
- symmetric and asymmetric encryption
- public key authentication
- hashing algorithms
- digital signatures
- digital envelopes
- digital certificates
- certificate authorities
- basic OpenSSL
- Handshake Protocol
- Record Protocol
- HP-UX implementation of OpenSSL
- Command Line Interface (CLI) Utility
- message digests
- symmetric and asymmetric ciphers
Offered: July 23, 2008; September 10, 2008; October 22, 2008
