Everyday, technology is moving closer to the center of family life,
making it easier to collect and share digital photos, to watch movies
and favorite television shows, or to stay connected through email. HP’s
connected entertainment helps to seamlessly connect the pieces of the
networked home—multiple PCs, TVs, and storage devices—so that
content can be more available and accessible.
The HP TouchSmart PC is a focal point for the Kelly family. It helps them stay connected and organize their lives while providing news, entertainment and other content all day long.
HP has made it easier for consumers to experience technology
and to enjoy the content they download, buy, or create themselves in
their daily lives. By storing information on a central home storage
device like HP Media Vault, consumers are enabled to access their
content through connected TVs and computers, such as HP’s MediaSmart TV
and TouchSmart PC.
Technology Joins Family Life - in the kitchen and living room
John Orcutt, General Manager, HP Managed Home has commented, “We now have this HP TouchSmart PC in our kitchen, and we find that it’s
really great for giving us quick access to information without having to
go to the home office. So, if we’re all together and we’re preparing
dinner or we’re getting ready for school in the morning, we can do
things on the computer without having to interrupt those activities.”
Now daily life and electronic entertainment can meet the common areas of
the home, the kitchen and living room. Email, electronic banking,
family calendars, and address books stored on the family computer can
now be easily opened and accessed at the touch of a button in the
kitchen. The television can become home entertainment central where
anyone in the home can access select internet services, as well as the
family catalog of stored movies, home videos, pictures and music.
“Our HP Media Vault is a central network,” said Maureen Kelly, connected entertainment mom. “So we have a lot of our photos
and the music that we listen to stored on that device. We can access
those photos and music from the PC in the kitchen or the office or even
in our family room. We have another PC [that is] connected to our TV
where we can access our photos or our music. So, we can enjoy our
content anywhere in the home.”
It’s all delivered through something called MediaSmart design; which is
intuitive technology that automatically connects to existing HP products
in the home. By removing time-consuming steps like programming and
hookup, the customer’s experience is simplified. As a result, time at
home can be spent with family members, doing the things everyone enjoys,
rather than spending time struggling alone with technology.
Intuitive Technology
HP helps to seamlessly connect the pieces of a connected home - multiple PCs, a MediaSmart TV and storage devices - so that entertainment can be always available and accessible.
The connected entertainment solution not only changes the way people do
what it is they want to do, but also how families interact with each
other. It makes sharing information, content and communication central
to the home environment. The areas where people keep their TVs and PCs
now become hubs of sharing and activity.
“I think it’s made it a lot simpler for us to organize a lot of our
digital content,” said Maureen. We take a lot of digital photos, we record TV programs,
and it’s made it a lot easier for us to enjoy that content. I think it
has saved us time and it’s let us enjoy it more. You know, we’re viewing
our pictures more, we’re watching those recorded TV programs now because
it’s not limited to just the room where we happen to record them.”
