Negotiations begin between HP and AMD to qualify the processors for potential use in HP Pavilion consumer PCs.


March 1997

 

HP and AMD win EPA Energy Star award for technological innovation in PCs
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognizes HP and AMD for Magic Packet technology, developed jointly by the companies, as well as for HP’s NightDIRECTOR, which builds on Magic Packet technology. These innovations allow a network administrator to remotely “wake up” a PC on a network for off-hours maintenance, and then return the machine to the power-off mode, thereby saving energy.

HP supports AMD-K6-2 processors
AMD-K6-2 processor with 3DNow! technology available in new line of HP Pavilion PCs for the home to be sold in U.S. retail stores.

AMD-K6-2 processor with 3DNow!™ technology available in new line of HP Pavilion PCs for the home in retail stores in Mexico.

AMD and HP enter into flash memory agreement
AMD enters into an agreement with HP to supply flash memory products over the next three years. Under the contract, AMD will provide HP with flash memory products intended to support a broad range of products, including inkjet printers and various print servers.

HP offers systems with 1.2-GHz AMD Athlon processor and 800-MHz AMD Duron™ processor
HP begins offering systems with the new 1.2-GHz AMD Athlon processor as well as the 800-MHz AMD Duron processor.

Mobile AMD Athlon 4 processor powers HP’s latest retail notebook PCs
AMD’s 1-GHz mobile AMD Athlon 4 processor featuring AMD PowerNow! technology – which delivers up to 30 percent more battery life without compromising performance – is incorporated in the latest notebook PCs from HP. The new AMD processor-based products are featured in HP’s best-selling retail notebook PC line – the HP Pavilion n5000 series.

Compaq supports the launch of the AMD Athlon XP processor 2000+ with systems based on AMD’s new processor. The AMD Athlon XP processor 2000+ reinforces AMD’s commitment to provide the industry’s highest performing desktop PC processors to customers.

Compaq Presario 700 notebook

Compaq offers notebooks powered by new mobile AMD Athlon 4 Processor 1500+
AMD introduces mobile AMD Athlon 4 processor 1500+, and Compaq features AMD mobile processors in its Compaq Presario 700 notebook series.

Compaq Business Notebook from HP powered by mobile AMD Athlon XP processors delivers high performance and more choice
AMD’s high-performance mobile AMD Athlon XP processors power the new Compaq Evo Notebook N1015v from HP, created specifically to meet the demanding mobility and productivity needs of business, government and education users.

AMD and HP power up Northeast Utilities
Northeast Utilities, a Fortune 500 diversified energy company, chooses and deploys the AMD Athlon XP processor-based Compaq D315 Business PC from HP as its desktop platform. Installation of the new platform at Northeast Utilities begins in late October 2002.


December 2002

 

HP business and personal PCs powered by AMD to connect Colombian families, schools and businesses with the Internet
AMD and HP join to deliver up to 180,000 Compaq D315 Business PCs from HP to help bring computer technology and the Internet to families, schools and businesses in several Colombian cities.


September 2003

 

HP supports AMD as it ushers in era of cinematic computing with AMD Athlon 64 FX processor
AMD marks the next frontier in computing, introducing the world’s first and only Windows-compatible 64-bit PC processor – the AMD Athlon 64 FX processor – and paving the way for a jaw-dropping PC experience. HP supports the launch with plans to ship AMD Athlon 64 processor-based systems in the fourth quarter of 2003.

HP Business Desktop d325

H&R Block standardizes on AMD Athlon XP processor-based desktops from HP
H&R Block, a Fortune 500 financial services company, standardizes its desktop platform on the AMD Athlon XP processor-based HP Business Desktop d325. Installation of the new platform at H&R Block begins in early October 2003.

AMD Athlon 64

AMD ignites the new year with performance-packed mobile and desktop AMD Athlon 64 processors
AMD kicks off 2004 with the introduction of new Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processors 3200+, 3000+ and 2800+, the world’s only Windows-compatible 64-bit mobile PC processors for mainstream notebooks. HP announces support for the AMD Athlon 64 processor family.

AMD Opteron

HP, AMD join to power server innovation and performance
HP and AMD expand collaboration to broaden HP’s standards-based server portfolio with the introduction of AMD Opteron processor-based systems in the HP ProLiant server family. The companies agree to drive next-generation server capabilities through a multi-year purchasing, marketing and technology collaboration agreement.


April 2004

 

HP supports AMD at one year anniversary of AMD Opteron processor in New York
HP joins AMD at the one year anniversary of the AMD Opteron processor. Since the launch of the Opteron processor in 2003, HP has supported AMD and the processor by integrating it into its server and workstation product lines.

Four-way AMD Opteron processor-based HP servers deliver exceptional performance
AMD Opteron processor powers the industry-standard HP ProLiant DL585 server. The four-processor server was first announced in February 2004 as part of an expansion of HP’s standards-based server portfolio.

HP offers new notebooks with the most powerful AMD64 mobile processor
AMD introduces the AMD Athlon 64 processor 3700+ for desktop-replacement notebooks, extending the award-winning AMD64 processor family to new heights with the highest performing 32-bit/64-bit processor available for mobile PCs. HP is among the first to offer notebooks based on the new AMD Athlon 64 processor 3700+ for desktop-replacement notebooks.

AMD demonstrates world’s first x86 dual-core processor on HP ProLiant DL585 server
AMD demonstrates the industry’s first x86 dual-core processor at the company’s Austin facilities. AMD showcases an HP ProLiant DL585 server powered by four dual-core AMD Opteron processors manufactured on 90nm silicon-on-insulator process technology.


October 2004

 

New HP Media Center PC m1160n Photosmart PC powered by the AMD Athlon 64 processor enables cinematic computing for digital media enthusiasts
The AMD Athlon 64 processor is integrated into the new HP Media Center PC m1160n Photosmart PC, featuring Microsoft Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005. AMD Athlon 64 processor-based systems are an ideal choice for Media Center PCs, providing improved technology for games, movies, and streaming audio and video.


December 2004

 

HP supports AMD’s plans to provide on-demand power management for the rack-dense enterprise market
AMD announces the AMD Opteron processor family will include AMD PowerNow!™ technology with Optimized Power Management in the first half of 2005. AMD PowerNow! technology for the AMD Opteron processor is designed to allow enterprise IT and workstation customers to decrease overall power consumption by enabling them to optimize performance-on-demand. HP publicly supported the announcement and technology at launch.

AMD joins HP as the exclusive partner of the “YOU + HP Experience” interactive tour
AMD joins HP as the exclusive partner of the “YOU + HP Experience,” powering HP desktop and notebook PCs featured on the tour with AMD Athlon™ 64 processor technology. The “YOU + HP Experience” features custom, hands-on demonstrations that showcase the versatile power of AMD64 technology for music, photography, video, home/office computing solutions and gaming.

HP advances computing manageability, performance and choice with AMD Opteron processor-based blade servers and workstation
HP announces industry firsts for customers in computing manageability, performance and choice with the introduction of new products and solutions that harness the power of the industry’s latest processor technology. HP introduces BladeSystem server blades, an HP workstation that supports new dual-PCI Express graphics solutions, and a new high-performance, enterprise-class HP ProLiant server based on the latest AMD Opteron processors delivering more computing power for customers’ demanding x86 applications.

HP xw9300 Workstation powered by two dual-core AMD Opteron processors get two thumbs up at Linuxworld
AMD demonstrates the HP xw9300 Workstation powered by two dual-core AMD Opteron processors along with NVIDIA SLI dual PCI Express technology and the record-breaking HP ProLiant DL585 server using four dual-core processors. AMD demonstrates the industry’s first x86 dual-core processor in August 2004, showing an HP ProLiant DL585 server powered by four dual-core AMD Opteron processors manufactured on 90nm silicon-on-insulator process technology.

AMD and HP announce that Singapore Telecommunications Limited, one of Asia’s leading communications companies, has deployed HP ProLiant DL145 servers powered by the AMD Opteron processor for the company’s Singapore EXPAND Data Centers, which provide managed hosting services for customers across the Asia Pacific region.

Using AMD’s new dual-core AMD Opteron™ processor, the new server blade – the HP ProLiant BL45p for the HP BladeSystem – and the dual-core HP ProLiant DL585 redefine four-processor performance and price-to-performance ratios with benchmarks that continue HP’s leadership across a broad set of applications.

AMD and DreamWorks Animation SKG announce strategic alliance enabling unprecedented CG filmmaking advantages
HP and AMD plan to continue their successful collaboration with DreamWorks Animation. In addition to expanding its AMD and HP-based render farms, DreamWorks Animation also uses the AMD Opteron processor-based HP xw9300 Workstation. The workstations build on the technology partnership HP and DreamWorks Animation formed in 2001 to explore new, creative frontiers and redefine the art of filmmaking.

HP joins AMD CEO Hector Ruiz as he challenges entertainment industry leaders at NAB to “break free” from traditional technology barriers
Hector Ruiz, chief executive officer of AMD, is joined onstage during his NAB keynote address by Jeff Wood, marketing director for Personal Workstations in the Workstation Global Business Unit at HP, and demonstrates the power of HP’s zx9300 dual-processing workstation featuring the upcoming dual-core AMD Opteron processor.

HP Introduces Advanced Security Capabilities and Support for Latest 64-bit Operating System
HP together AMD announced its support of Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. The AMD processor-based HP dx5150 Business Desktop is a first to support the new 64-bit operating system and also boasts enhanced performance, scalability and reliability features

HP, AMD team with Lance Armstrong Foundation to help people with cancer live strong
HP and AMD team to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation™ (LAF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with cancer live strong. AMD and HP, working closely with the LAF, developed the HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC, a one-of-a-kind consumer PC that bears the LIVESTRONG™ message and a reproduction of Lance Armstrong’s autograph. As of January 30, 2006, HP and AMD has generated more than $2 million to support the LAF through the sales of this special edition notebook.

HP Enhances Virtual PC Architecture with New Blade PC Based on AMD Athlon 64 Processor
The HP bc1500 blade PC, based on HP BladeSystem technology, is the industry’s first AMD-processor based blade PC and adds increased performance, manageability and security to HP’s Consolidated Client Infrastructure (CCI) solution. CCI is HP’s blade PC-based virtual computing solution, which can significantly reduce IT management costs and improve data security by limiting traditional desktop computing risks such as theft, viruses and lost data, while maintaining a high-quality, personalized desktop experience for end-users.

HP Celebrates Decade of Technology Firsts with AMD
HP and AMD celebrate 10 years of providing customers unmatched variety, quality and value in computing technology with the addition of the first HP AMD processor-based thin client, the t5720 thin client featuring the AMD GeodeTM NX 1500 processor. HP also announced that it would be expanding the industry’s largest portfolio of Opteron-based servers from any tier-one manufacturer with the addition of dual-core AMD Opteron processor Models 185, 285 and 885 to the HP ProLiant DL145, DL385, DL585 and BL25p, BL35p and BL45p later in the quarter.
